Bom dia! Refurbished and fully equipped, in a traditional residential neighbourhood, this sunny 2-bedroom apartment is just minutes by bus/train to downtown Lisbon. Perfect location if you intend to explore Lisbon and surrounds for longer than a few days (see my weekly [10%] and monthly discounts [20%]). Free street parking makes this apartment ideal if you wish to rent a car to explore more of the Lisbon district and the rest of Portugal, with the major highway hubs all within easy reach. The main bedroom has a queen bed (160x200cm) and plenty of storage. The bright second bedroom is equipped with up to 2 identical single beds (90x190cm) which can be placed at either side of the room or joined together as a couple's bed. (The apartment is not very suitable for children under 5 because of sharp edged furniture in the living room and kitchen, but I'll leave this up to your judgement.) The apartment's area is small but it has everything you need. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher and a washing machine. You can dry your washing on the clothesline off the rear balcony, or inside the enclosed balcony on rainy days. The newly refurbished bathroom is equipped with a shower and bathroom essentials such as shower gel. When at home you can relax watching the TV's multiple local and international channels; you can make use of the fast internet connection to surf the web on your laptop anywhere in the apartment; you can cook up a storm in the fully equipped kitchen. I will not be able to greet you in person because I don't live in Lisbon. I am, however, instantly contactable via messages through Airbnb. I have also prepared a Welcome Pack with very detailed information about the apartment and also about the neighbourhood, such as where to catch the train to the centre of Lisbon, etc. I count on friends and family to open the apartment for you and show you where everything is, but not all of them are fluent in languages other than Portuguese, so feel free to contact me with any questions at any time. Also nearby: buses and train, restaurants, supermarket, bi-weekly farmer's market, children's park, bank, pharmacy, bakery, cafes, taxi rank, postoffice, takeaway charcoal chicken, church, Monsanto Forest Park for picnics, biking and jogging. Convenient to public transport: close by are regular buses and trains that will get you to Lisbon's downtown and other key places, such as Lisbon's airport, within minutes. The nearby (12 mins walk) train station will get you to Rossio - which is Lisbon's epicentre - in 9 minutes, and to absolutely-must-see Sintra in 20 minutes. There's a direct bus to the university of Lisbon (UL), which passes other universities (Universidade Nova, Universidade Católica). The train and a bus will also get you to Costa da Caparica's glorious beaches in less than an hour, not to mention stunning Cascais coast. The list goes on... There's a taxi rank nearby and a taxi or uber from downtown Lisbon will cost you less than 10 euros, which makes it easy, affordable and safe to enjoy the nightlife in Lisbon's centre. To comply with Portuguese tax law, I will need to ask you for the number of your country's identity document or passport (and Portuguese tax number, if you have one). I will also need you to send me a photo of this identity document. The apartment is on the second (and last) floor and there is no lift. Noisy upstairs neighbours is not something you need to worry about. It is a very quiet building with only 6 apartments, in a working class residential neighbourhood that is not yet trendy or gentrified in the least, but with a good selection of excellent and cheap restaurants (more information about these restaurants is available in the detailed Welcome Pack I prepared for you and which you will find in the apartment). The building, as you see in the photos, is in a row of similar low building built in the 1950s. The neighbourhood is experiencing a renaissance and many buildings on the street have been recently renovated on the exterior. This has not yet happened to my building, whose facade and front yard is in original condition. I hope you won't let the building's unrenovated exterior influence your first impressions of the apartment, which has been recently refurbished and is fully equipped for your comfort and enjoyment. Buraca is a working class neighbourhood where ethnic diversity and social disadvantage might be more obvious than in other areas of Lisbon. This does not make it more dangerous, however, although I would advise against walking alone late at night, just like anywhere else in Lisbon. Typical Buraca residents are like my next door neighbours, whom you might meet - thoroughly honest people who have worked hard all their lives to raise their families. Because Buraca is virtually turist-free, it reminds me more of the Lisbon I grew up in than much of the rest of Lisbon, and this quality will appeal to travellers who are looking for a more authentic experience. One of my quests is to raise the profile of this undervalued suburb, one satisfied guest at the time :). One last note: by Free Parking on Premises I mean free street parking, which is indeed free (unlike central Lisbon) and plentiful.
