Ca'Magna
"Ca’ Magna" means the aunt’s house and it comes from the local dialect ("magna" means aunt and "ca’" means house). Maybe the house belonged to an aunt who liked neo-colonialist buildings: in fact there is a wonderful porch with Corinthian capital columns, a long and wide balcony and, on top on the third floor, a big terrace from which you can enjoy a gorgeous 360° view towards the hills and the village. The guests can use two double rooms with double beds with a panoramic view. We have devoted great care and love to the furniture of the rooms where you can find antique pieces of furniture which belonged to our families. On the first floor there is a shared small room where we serve your breakfasts. In the evenings or during rainy afternoons you can enjoy board games, you can read or listen to music. Our wide kitchen, heated with a beautiful fireplace, is a nice meeting point where we also serve our tasty breakfast in the coldest days: besides hot and cold drinks you can have home-made cakes and biscuits, biological fruit jams, yoghurt and cereals. And for those who love salty food you can be spoilt for choice: "salumi" (various kinds of cold meat, usually made of pork), different types of cheese and of course eggs. During the warm season you can spend your time outdoors: our garden and the fresh porch are the favourite places in order to admire the landscape, to rest , read or write and – why not? – take a nap. Our kitchen is at your disposal and it can be the place where we can prepare marmalade and jams; if you love art here you have the chance to draw and paint. You can also experience wine tasting. This B&B is at Camagna Monferrato, a small village of Medieval Lombardic origin lying between two streams, the Grana and the Rotaldo, on the tender hills of Monferrato. It can offer a wonderful landscape: the villages of Conzano, Cuccaro, Lu and Vignale on the south slope, the villages of Oliva, Frassinello, Rosignano, Cellamonte, Terrugia on the opposite slope. The whole landscape is surrounded with the Alps and the Ligurian Appennines. Camagna developed around the big Church and a Castle, which now is a big palace, in a concentric way with narrow streets and its tuff and brick made houses, which are characterized by the "infernot". In fact under each house there are the "infernot", that is a sort of cellar for the conservation of wine. They had been dug in ancient times by the peasants with shovels and pickaxes. Some "infernot" can be visited. The typical wines of the area are: Barbera and Grignolino. Not to forget truffles which are quite common. There is an open parking area inside and a covered one for bikes and motorbikes. We can pick you up at the stations of Alessandria and Casale Monferrato.
