Apartment/Gite Top Floor of Lovely Gascony Château
Chateau de Plehaut (see our website) is a 13th century Gascony château, set in 5.5 ha of woodland near a small hamlet in the beautiful Gers. We live on the first floor and guests have light, spacious self contained accommodation on the second floor with 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (with over bath showers), kitchen & large living/dining area. Whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying the garden or exploring local towns, festivals, markets and countryside, the Château is an excellent holiday location! The top floor is a large self contained unit within the Chateau - excellent for families or groups of friends. There is plenty of space for cots and extra child beds as required. The new guest kitchen is well equipped and the hosts are on hand if guests wish to borrow other kitchen equipment. The spacious living/dining area includes comfortable seating with DVD player and wonderful views across the garden, woodland and Gers countryside. There is a (lockable) interconnecting door between one of the double rooms and the twin bedroom, making it ideal for families. The family room includes a double and bunk beds. The room is large and it is possible to put a further child's bed or cot in the room. Guests are invited to make themselves at home on the large first floor terrace (with lovely views!), the garden with dining table and seating for outdoor dining, BBQ and enclosed swimming pool area. The Chateau grounds are great for exploring with children and deer, foxes, rabbits and many different species of birds are regularly seen. We are delighted to welcome our guests with a bottle of wine and basics including olive oil, salt, pepper and sugar will be available in the kitchen cupboard. A gite is also available, through Airbnb and is situated by the pool. Our website of Chateau de Plehaut provides more details of both properties and we have a FB page of the same name which is regularly updated. Both properties may be rented together to accommodate 15 adults + young children/babies. As well as the facilities on the top floor, guests are welcome to access the 12 acres (5.5 ha) of garden and woodland, the terrace (which overlooks the garden, River Baïse and Gers countryside), the swimming pool, barbecue and outdoor furniture (including a large dining table and chairs). There is plenty of parking outside the château and many a game of boules/petanque has been played along the front drive!! We live in the chateau and will be on hand to answer any queries and provide advice regarding local places of interest etc. There are also many leaflets, guides and maps available at the château with opening times/prices etc of local places of interest. More information is available via our web site and (Hidden by Airbnb) page in the name of Château de Pléhaut. Plehaut is a small hamlet 5 kms from the small town of Vic-Fezensac which has all amenities including a market, supermarkets, pharmacy, restaurants, bars etc. The beautiful surrounding countryside and local towns and villages are wonderful to explore! The Gers is rich in music festivals in the summer with the fabulous Tempo Latino salsa dancing and country music festivals in Vic Fezensac in July and Jazz in Marciac in July/August. A car is really essential as there are no public transport services locally. There is plenty of safe, off road, parking at the front of the chateau and safe space for pushbikes in the barn. Hugo is our large and friendly dog, who will always want to say hello (loudly!). He loves people and may want you to play! He will sulk for hours after you leave.... Please note that the pool is in a walled garden outside the front of the gite and is shared with any guests in the gite. The pool will be available from mid May to end September and guests are requested to respect the fact that this space may be shared with other guests. Pool toys are available as are parasols and sun loungers. The safety and wellbeing of our guests is important to us and additional cleaning and ventilation procedures have been introduced in response to Covid-19.
