This typical Chianti cottage is ideal for a couple who are looking for a romantic and peaceful hideaway, yet it is also within walking distance of the lively town of Gaiole in Chianti, which is one of the main Chianti towns. The medieval city of Siena makes a great day trip and with activities such as wine and olive oil tasting, walking and cycling on the doorstep, you won’t be short of things to do. The cottage has been restored to a very high standard, retaining the chestnut wooden beams and terracotta tiles on the ceiling, offering both a cool retreat in summer and a warm place to snuggle up on chillier evenings. Outside, the pretty garden is partly lawned and planted with colourful native flowers and shrubs, while the covered terrace is stylishly furnished and is the place to sit back and admire the private pool and lush garden. A luxurious daybed with mosquito net - perfect for relaxing together under the shade of the trees - can be found on a nearby wooden platform overlooking the fields. Our Thoughts This beautiful Tuscan cottage, set in an oasis of a garden, is a stylish bolthole for couples seeking a bit of peace and quiet. But its location near to Gaiole means guests aren’t cut off and can walk into town and spend the evening soaking up the local ambience. The open-plan living space is bright by day, yet has a cosy and romantic atmosphere come the evening. Notes There is a neighbouring villa, but hedges and trees ensure privacy in the garden. There is no central heating, but there is a wood-burning stove.  The Washing machine is situated in an outdoor laundry room. Pool The pool is in the heart of the garden, just a few steps down from the house’s covered terrace. It is surrounded by a paved deck, with a second furnished terrace to the side, and access to the water is via metal steps. Pool size: 3.5x6.5m and 1.2m deep, open from mid-May to mid-October weather permitting. Pool chlorine free.
