Holiday Home in Rezzo Old Town

A fully and tastefully renovated and modernised ancient stone house (rustico) in Rezzo village, in the Ligurian mountains amid wild woods, streams and walks. It has a large garden. On the edge of the old town, near the C16th church & castle, it has parking outside. It has a large garden on three levels with magnificent views (except for a few weeks of the year, when the owners are staying in the adjoining house). Fully fitted kitchen and dining area, complemented by a large first floor terrace with beautiful views of the mountain side. Rezzo in an ancient village (Comune) in the mountains, with a hugely historic past, and incredible views. The village has a restaurant and another in a goat farm within short walking distance through the woods. A famous regional restaurant opens at the weekends - La Lavinella - and is about 5 minutes drive away. Pieve di Teco, the nearest large town, is less than 15 minutes drive. Among other things it boasts Italy's smallest full-scale theatre - Teatro Salvini - as well as shops, restaurants and historic Churches and a monastery, and a beautiful covered arcade. The river Giara, a tributary of the Arroccia, runs through Rezzo valley, with crystal clear plunge-pools for swimming, spanned by four ancient Roman bridges and another from Napoleonic times, all intact and just a short walk away. The Rezzo woods, among the largest in Liguria, are renowned for their mountain and river hiking trails. - 35 minutes from the sea and beaches in Imperia, Albenga or Allasio; - One hour from Skiing in Garressio; - 90 minutes from Nice and Genoa airport; two hours from Turin and 3.5 hours from Milan airport. A local family look after the house and guests for us, but we are available by phone or email at an time. Main features of Rezzo are the old town itself, walks in surrounding mountains, cycle ways, swimming in the river ponds, the high mountains, the local terraced fields - and the very friendly local people. There is a restaurant, bar, two cafes and two shops in the village, and two other quality restaurants five minutes away by car (ine in Lavina down the valley, the other in a goat farm above the town in a Sanctuario). The main town, Pieve di Teco, has lots more. Though there are a few buses a day, a car is in practice essential. The road up to it is unpaved, and is not suitable for low-slung cars. But a normal car will make it easily.
