This beautiful 17th century Grade II listed stone farmhouse lies in the heart of beautiful Batcombe, with valley views all around. It has been loving restored and sits within its own large gardens with parking for up to 3 cars. Featured in Period Homes magazine, it is thoughtfully decorated and comfortable, full of original features with wood burners, a wood-fired hot tub, fire bowl, hammock, gravel garden and terraces. Close to Bruton, Frome, Glastonbury, Wells, and Bath and Bristol beyond. The Weavers House is a 17th Century Grade II listed home which has been loving restored. There are lots of original features and quirky touches such as decoration and furniture from India. There is a piano in the dining room which you are welcome to use. Or curl up with Netflix. You can have the french doors open to the garden terrace while you cook, and the cosy dining room can easily seat 10. We hope it will provide and home from home for you and your friends/ family. Bedrooms are as follows: Bed One - Super King bed / en suite Bed Two- King size bed and occasional day bed (small single suitable for up to 12 years) Bed Three- Double bed/ basin Bed Three- Single bed Bed Four- Single bed The gardens are lovely for relaxing and include a wood fired hot tub, fire bowl, wendy house and monkey bars to keep children entertained. Please note there is also a small pond so small children need supervising. The whole house and garden. Please note there is also a 17th Century Grade II listed Cider House cottage in the far corner of our garden which may also be hosting air B&B guests. This does not affect your privacy as the two properties are quite separate with their own garden spaces and terraces. The hosts, Jo and Will, may sometimes be staying in the Cider House, in which case they will be on hand to help with local advice : ) We will not be available during your stay but have a friendly lady on hand to assist you if necessary during your stay with us. The countryside of Somerset’s rolling Mendip Hills is some of England’s loveliest and you can start exploring directly from the garden. There are several lovely walks through open countryside across and along the valleys using a network of footpaths. There are also many local things to do: Local Pubs and restaurants The Three Horseshoes, Batcombe– cosy village inn for easy breakfast/ lunch/ supper in the village (currently closed as of Aug 21 still) Osip restaurant and wine bar, Bruton High St At the Chapel, Bruton - bakery, restaurant, takeaway pizzas The Bath Arms, Horningsham, is 3 miles away and offers good food (must book) and relaxed outside drinking. The Bradley Hare, Maiden Bradley, is 3.5 miles away. A new gastro-pub. The Smithy pub, Charlot Hawthorne- often has live music in the beer garden Nunney, The George Inn, with castle and pretty river views The Talbot, Mells, excellent gastro pub Other things to do: Marston Park - lakeside eating, drinking, music, dancing. You need to sign up (free) to visit. Family-friendly. It is a 5-minute drive away. Hauser & Wirth Gallery, Bruton: 3 miles. Lovely art gallery, garden and restaurant/ bar and lovely farm shop The Newt-3.5 miles- amazing gardens, food, deer park, tree top walk and farm shop Pasture and Pallete, Ice cream Parlour on way to Frome with goats to feed Mells Walled Garden which serves amazing pizzas, tea and cake, sells plants and is just lovely. Frome with a wealth of shops, cafes and markets - we love St Catherines Hill East Somerset Railway: 4 miles approx 15 mins Stourhead House and Gardens: (National Trust) 9 miles Glastonbury Abbey: 14 miles The Historic City of Wells: 12 miles The beautiful Georgian city of Bath is 45 minutes drive The Dorset coast with its gorgeous beaches is an hours drive plus Local Walks: We’ve left some information on longer walks but 3 easy local walks are: Round the village! Lovely 20 minute quick walk as Batcombe goes in a circle- go down Back Lane and turn left at the White round house on the corner, padt the pub and church and then onto Kale Street Up the valley behind the house- turn right out of back gate and through the next gate into the field. You can walk all around the filed and then up the hill and up the valley You can also explore the other side of the valley by turning right out of the front door and then left at the first corner. Go down the lane and keep left and head down what looks like a private drive (but the house owners allow access) to the gate and then fields behind. You can walk up to a beautiful bench with the best view in Batcombe. The landowners in Batcombe allow walking in most fields unless clearly marked otherwise! Please do shut all gates, stick to foot paths and pick up after your dogs as dog poo can be harmful to pregnancy animals! Food deliveries: Ocado, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Tesco all deliver or Sainsbury's is nearest supermarket in Frome. Riverford deliver on a Friday if you have an account there. Batcombe vending station - turn left out of the house and walk 5 mins on Kale St (also sells local cheese and butter). I’ve left 3 litre bottles for your use. Food shops: Sainsburys (BA11 4DH) - large supermarket in Frome, also petrol Bill The Butcher- Bruton High Street- small grocers Budgens, Bruton- next to Petrol Station Church Bridge Stores, Bruton - lovely local store, our favourite There is also a sweet little health food shop on Bruton high street The Newt also has a very high end farm shop Westcombe Cheese and dairy: Excellent local cheese and charcuterie, also sells delicious local ice cream and Wild Beer company drinks- highly recommended Batcombe is in between Bruton and Frome, off the A359. The nearest train station is Bruton, 3 miles away. The Weavers House, BA4 6AB is on the corner of Kale Street and Back Lane, with a sign on the front gate but this is quite low down to the eye. Sat Nav usually works. Please park on the private driveway at the back of the house (room for up to 3 cars) Please note this a family home so there are some personal effects. However, we run yoga retreats from the house so it also feels clear and spacious and ready to welcome other guests to enjoy the space. There is not much mobile reception in the village for any networks, though there is good WiFi in the house and gardens for WIFI calls
