Surfers go for the North end. Bilgola Beach. Down a winding road, there’s a great cafe, Zubi’s at Billy’s (Bilgola), and a perfect 50m ocean pool Newport Beach. Back around the Bends...long sweeping beach, great breaks Whale Beach. More secluded, little more local... Palm Beach. Favourite for Sydney’s jet setters. Setting for ‘Home and Away’. Clareville. On Pittwater, so great for a gentle swim or a family outing or a snooze on the grass beneath the trees while the flat water laps... Further away: 5 minutes drive... Hilltop Shops - Girdlers Cafe, Le Pont Cellar, Ouzo Greek restaurant. Clareville Kiosk - Hidden gem, perfect for a long lunch 10 minutes drive... Careel Bay Shops - Oliver’s Pies, Cranzgots Pizza, Indian and a local favourite GrazNCakes Vietnamese. 15 minutes drive... Whale Beach Deli - Breakfast and lunch with great coffee! Jonah’s. Here since (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , and with a guest list so distinguished its impossible to surpass. Fab spot. Book for lunch, for the knock out views! Barrenjoey House. A peninsular institution, recently revived by the Boathouse Group, in their trademark beachcomber meets South of France style! Great food! Great cocktails! The Boathouse Palm Beach. Fab. Beware (Hidden by Airbnb) ming tourists. You might also catch ‘Home and Away’ being filmed... Dunes, Palm Beach. Reinvented, native ingredients and chilled vibe. Not quite in area... The Newport - Merivale have reinterpreted this grand old pub nestled on the shores of Pittwater. It is really fab. Cold drinks, pizzas, and a stunning spot with great views. If you are going for broke (and you might be afterwards!) ‘Berts’ restaurant is a-ma-zing!! The Waterfront Cafe at Church Point. Great vibe, live music on Sundays, and perfect for a lazy lunch. Walks: There are loads! But if you’re reasonably fit, and only here for a couple of days, the ‘MUST’ is up to the lighthouse at Palm Beach...the views are spectacular. And they’ve now got loos at the top! Park by The Boathouse (remember to pay the meter, the wardens are draconian) walk up, and reward yourself with coffee/lunch/a beer at The Boathouse Cafe on your way back... ‘The Village’ starts at the end of the road, and an easy stroll, with a great array of food and drink options (see suggestions above) for all budgets and tastes.
