Cosy & Beautiful 700 Year Old Cottage

We lovingly restored this 700 year old cottage a few years ago. It’s a short drive from the market town of Totnes, the towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth and the beautiful surfing beach in Bantham. The house feels homely and full of history. You’ll find everything you need from a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with bath and shower, a sitting room with wood burner and a cozy large bedroom to a lovely garden full of home grown veg depending on the season We bought this house in 2018 and have completely transformed it to a stunning holiday cottage and home. You enter the cottage into the handmade kitchen which is fully equipped with pots and pans, a gas cooker and electric oven and a washing machine. We will leave a welcome gift for you to enjoy. The cozy living room is straight ahead where you will find a large sofa, a wood burning stove, a table for eating or working and a view over the church. On the way downstairs there's a full bathroom on your left, with a shower, bath, hand pottered sink and toilet. Your towels are included. Downstairs you will find the spacious bedroom with a large king sized bed, a wardrobe, drawers and a window with church views. The whole cottage is very cozy and beautifully restored. Outside there is a garden area with a table, chairs and decking area. Some extras. There's a record player upstairs and a few records, we are adding to the collection! There's a box on the floor with books for you to take or swap if you want. There are plenty of interesting books in the cottage for you to enjoy. Also you can help yourselves to veg from the garden depending on the season and inside there are loads of kilner jars with everything from lentils, dried fruit and beans which you can help yourself to. We include a guidebook which you can access when you have made your reservation. It includes some pubs and restaurants, walks and towns to visit. Christmas and New Year's Eve. For Christmas and New Year's Eve we have a small Christmas tree and tastefully decorate the cottage so that you don't need to worry about anything. We provide prosecco, Christmas table crackers and a seasonal food hamper (depending on your diet). You can access the whole cottage except one cupboard upstairs and part of the wardrobe in the bedroom We might or might not be around, but we are available on the phone Halwell is a small village between Totnes and Kingsbridge. The next shop is in Harbourtonford about 5 minutes away or the petrol station towards Kingsbridge which sells the basics. There's a church next door and a pub diagonally opposite. There are plenty of things to do here and in the area. Some useful ideas and things to do Walks in and around Halwell There's a fantastic market in Totnes every Friday where you will find lots of local produce and antiques stalls and a fleamarket There's a round trip via Totnes and Dartmouth which includes a boat trip, steam train and bus. Bus stop just outside the Old Inn Pub. Busses to Kingsbridge and Totnes, from Totnes you can catch trains to Plymouth, London and Bristol for example. Some people have found the bedroom a bit damp and cold There’s a dehumidifier in the bedroom which is great at keeping the room dry. You need to leave it in during the day and make sure the water tank is empty. Also turn the radiator up the thermostat is in the kitchen
