A spacious apartment in a block of four located in the small Highland village of Beauly. A generous living area, with a small integral kitchen, and a comfortable king size bedroom. It is an ideal base for touring the Highlands or a cosy hideaway for a quiet break in one of the most picturesque parts of the country. The recently renovated building was originally a coaching inn dating back to the early 18th century. The Sutherland Suite is named after the county - one of four which the iconic North Coast 500 route passes through. Beauly is an ideal location for those starting or completing this fabulous drive. The suite has been decorated in colours that are evocative of the purple, heather clad mountains so typical of Sutherland. The art work reflects the wild seascapes you can experience particularly on the North coast of this sparsely populated county. But the apartment is also comfortably furnished so if your idea of a Highland holiday is to curl up with a book and enjoy a taste of our national drink you will be perfectly at home. You can access your home contact free, using the keypad at the front entrance and the keysafe at the door to your apartment. Your hosts are very happy to correspond prior to your visit and give recommendations of where to visit, things to see or places to eat. They are also available to speak to you by phone, or in person, when visiting, but we leave that up to you. Beauly is a lovely little village in the Scottish Highlands. In years past it was on the main route from Inverness to the far North and West of the Highlands but once the new A9 was built with the spectacular Kessock Bridge taking cars over the Beauly Firth it became a much quieter and more peaceful location. But for a small village it offers the visitor a lot to see and do. The historic priory ruins date back to the early 13th century. It has a large square with many traditional buildings and the remains of an ancient market cross still standing. There is also a memorial to the Lovat scouts. But if history is not your thing there are plenty of other attractions. Boasting a butcher, a baker and a delicatessen as well as number of cafes and restaurants you won't go hungry or thirsty. And there are a selection of independently owned shops offering everything from Highland tweeds to antique silver. We also have two award winning gift shops. There are enjoyable walks and cycle routes around the village and further afield. Most of our guests arrive by car and there is free parking close to the apartment. We don't have dedicated parking spaces but there is always parking nearby. This is an ideal base for touring the Highlands, near and far. The spectacular West Coast, the Isle of Skye, our highest mountain Ben Nevis, the monumental Cairngorm mountain range, numerous castles and, of course distilleries are all within an easy day's drive. With a bit of planning you can get to Orkney and back in a day. Or you can visit the famous Glenfinnan viaduct, made famous by Harry Potter. Closer to hand is the spectacular Glen Affric or visit the charming 18th century town of Cromarty for a walk back in time. Your hosts will be delighted to advise on their favourite tours. Beauly has its own train station about 1/2 a mile from the apartment. From there you can get trains to the North and West coasts and to the regional capital Inverness. From Inverness there are options to travel South or East. There is also a bus service to and from Inverness.
