Cornish Boltholes - Liberty Cottage
Liberty Cottage is a beautiful, recently renovated Cornish bolthole in the heart of the friendly coastal village of St. Agnes. You can easily walk to Trevaunance Cove and the shops and restaurants are literally a couple of minutes away. We love St. Agnes and we wanted to find another bolthole for our small holiday business. When we walked into Liberty Cottage, we knew our search was over. It's small but perfectly formed with original, refurbished sash windows, cosy bedroom and a tiny outdoor space where you can leave your surf board or buggy. We have tried to create a house that has all the comforts of home, plus the practical stuff you need for a self-catering break and the luxury of a boutique hotel. When we go on holiday with our two young children we want good beds, high quality bed linen, a good dining space for family meals, Wi-Fi (so the kids can play Minecraft when they are worn out from surfing!) and candles and cosy blankets for long conversations over a bottle of wine when the children have collapsed into bed. We think Liberty Cottage gives all of these things plus it is right in the centre of St. Agnes which is just a fantastic, unspoiled coastal village, busy and friendly all year round with the beach, lots of cafes and restaurants only a short walk away. We also have another house in St. Agnes. You can find it at www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/ (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) We hope all our guests will enjoy staying at No. 3 The Old Cornstore and we will do our best to welcome you to our part of Cornwall. We try to make sure you have some basic provisions and some nice Cornish treats to look forward to when you arrive but please let us know if there is something else you would like us to arrange for your visit. We only live 10 minutes away so can be on hand if you have any problems or need any help or advice. There is something special about St. Agnes! Yes, it is on the stunning North Cornwall coast, yes, it is a World Heritage site and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty but it is more than this. We think it’s a little bit magical! It’s been called ‘Neverland’ by the locals as people don’t seem to grow old there and it is steeped in history and legend. The myth of the Giant Bolster is celebrated every year in the Bolster Pageant which is one of the many festivals held in St. Agnes every year. Reminders of the towns mining heritage are everywhere and the landscape is peppered with the ruins of the old wheals. The village is home to a busy, thriving community all year round and you will get a friendly welcome wherever you go. There are lots of independent shops, some small artist’s studios and some great places to eat and drink. And of course there is Poldark! Some of the scenes are filmed up on St. Agnes Head so keep your eyes peeled for dashing Captain Poldark and beautiful Demelza when you’re walking the South West Coast Path! You can usually park right outside the house in front of the living room window. Failing that you can park on British Road or there is a free car park in the village less than a 5 minute walk from the house. The second bedroom is very small and is really best suited to young children. Although the bunk beds are full size and we have had teenagers and adults staying happily in that room. Space is limited in the cottage so there is a breakfast counter and stools rather a traditional dining table.
