Welcome to the Wild Atlantic Bus my name is Richard and I have transformed this 28 year old double decker bus after its life’s work transporting people around England and Ireland into a unique holiday and accommodation experience…..the bus is based in the heart of nature and near my country cottage and only a 5 minute walk down a country lane to the famous Lough Corrib one of the last remaining native brown trout lakes in Europe….. The Wild Atlantic bus is located on the outskirts of Oughterard Co Galway…Oughterard has been well known for years as the gateway to Connemara which forms a major part of the Wild Atlantic Way which is the biggest coastal route in Europe. The bus accommodates 6 comfortably with 3 double beds 2 of which can be twin beds or simply use as a single...A lovely wood burning stove to cosy up to, A full kitchen and wet room.....Outside there is a beautiful fire pit, A luxurious outdoor shower with exceptional views over the surrounding landscape, so as you shower your senses will be awakened and you will be ready for your day, a little cabin to accommodate all your coats, boots etc after your walk or your day out….the Wild Atlantic Bus is the perfect retreat for exploring the magical landscape that Connemara has to offer.....Not many have stayed on a converted bus of such luxury, so why not escape the traditional yourself and witness something that will leave a lasting memory, and put a smile on your face....ALL ABOARD I live in a little country cottage nearby and am always willing to be of help, but I do like my guests to have their own space to enjoy this most scenic place in nature. The Wild Atlantic Bus is set in the countryside near the town of Oughterard, steps from the shores of Lough Corrib, one of the last remaining native brown trout lakes in Europe. There are quaint shops, supermarkets, traditional pubs, and restaurants in town. Naturally, a car would be beneficial but not necessary if you are a walker as the village is a 20-minute walk and there is a bus service to the main city of Galway.
