A spacious, air-conditioned room with attached washroom located on the upper floor of our home. The unit is reached via a single flight of broad stairs and a passageway. The room has two beds, wall cupboards, a wardrobe, sink, and a large table which doubles up as a workspace cum dining table. The book case contains fact & fiction and publications by the hosts on Sri Lanka, with an antique couch to relax on and read. Paintings by Sri Lankan artists and photographs by the hosts are on the walls. A 380 square-foot ensuite unit with two beds, a wardrobe, built-in cupboards with utensils and space for storage. Room includes a small sink, mini fridge, microwave oven and dishes, crockery and cutlery for 2 persons, electric jug kettle, hair dryer, iron, linen, etc. Air-conditioned and with fans, the room is a sealed unit with no mosquitoes. However, nets can be provided. Washroom has solar hot water with an electrical option to ensure hot water on rainy days as well. Linen, towels and toiletries are provided and changed every 4th day for guests staying a week or more. Laptop-friendly workspace and free WiFi. Single burner induction cooker & pans provided on request for those who like to cook during their stay at $3 per day. Guests can enjoy the main house garden, a place of gentle breezes and tall trees, and birds, to sit, relax, read or smoke (no smoking within the room) or sip a beverage or brew! The passageway outside the room can also be used to sit and smoke. The unit is on the first floor and is reached via the driveway, a flight of fifteen broad steps and a passageway which ends at the room. Keys to the unit door and gate are given to guests so that they have freedom of access. The driveway is well-lit at night. We are a three-person family of professionals who work/live on the premises and while respecting your privacy, are able to assist you. Ours is not a hotel nor a guest house - it is an average Sri Lankan home with normal household activities continuing as usual. We have been hosting guests for over two years now and what we enjoy most is meeting people from all over the world and having vibrant discussions on a variety of topics. We have 2 units – one on the ground floor and the other on the first floor with totally separate entrances so privacy of guests is ensured. Within walking distance are Restaurants, Supermarkets & Pharmacies including Sensal, Perera & Sons, Klassy, Havelock Bungalow, Dolce Italia, Amrita Indian Restaurant, Matura Vegetarian Restaurant, Keells & Laughs Supermarkets, Embark & Cool Planet, & Commercial Bank, NDB, Bank of Ceylon & People's Bank. The units are located away from the road in a residential neighborhood. It is located between the main trunk roads of Galle Road, Duplication Road & Havelock Road, close to bus routes. As it is a popular area tuk tuks can be obtained easily from the top of the road and Uber or Pick-me vehicles are usually a couple of minutes away. Located in a quiet and secure residential area of Colombo 5. The owners have very lovable pet dogs who have a run of the premises but do not have access to the guest apartment provided you keep your door closed. Some power tool noise (drills, etc) may be heard occasionally as renovations are taking place in a neighbouring house. But the premises is set well back from the road so there are no noises of traffic whatsoever. It is a safe place where young women feel comfortable coming in late at night/in the early hours of the morning. The driveway is well lit with a street lamp directly opposite the front gate. Electricity is from the national grid. Free wifi subject to Fair Use Policy. We have another unit within the premises on the ground floor and both units can be booked by two parties traveling together or by parents with grownup children. Free wifi subject to Fair Use Policy. Room cleanup and linen change every 4 days for those staying a week or more.
