Nina and Andi weclome you to The Cottage @ Green End, a comfortable self-contained, ground floor two bedrooom cottage suite, attached to our beautiful home at the foot of the Quantock Hills AONB. Only 1/2 mile from Hestercombe House and gardens, this quiet, rural location is just 2.5 miles from the centre of Taunton yet you can walk and cycle for miles from our door. Only 10-15 mins from M5 J24 and J25, ideal for touring to Exmoor, Quantocks, Blackdown hills, Lyme Regis, Dunster and Minehead Green End is surrounded by farmland and gardens, approached along a track through a pretty wooded area. Enjoy a sunrise coffee listening to the many different birds, watch the buzzards drift on the thermals, spot a deer 🦌 having a cheeky breakfast in the arable crop. The west terrace is the perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea or a sundowner. To the north east you can spot Hestercombe House and Gardens designed by Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll, open to the public for walks, excellent cafe for lunch and a popular wedding venue. The walking/cycling is extensive here in the Quantocks, and you can hire horses for escorted rides over the hills. There is private parking at the property, and we can safely store your bikes in our locked garage. The east patio by the kitchen door and the west garden terrace are yours to enjoy exclusively. The grounds are all flat, and the cottage accommodation is ground floor level. Other parts of the garden are shared with the owners and the hens, who love a bit of attention We’re here or contactable if you need us, but leave you in peace. However our two dogs Holli and Barney will probably give you a barky waggy-tail welcome, and as there is no fencing they roam around the entire property. Our guests’ doggies can and do wander round the back up the owners accommodation and that’s fine! We’re very relaxed, dogs are family, but ask that you keep them under close control or a long lead if they’re prone to wandering, there is only a stream separating the property from the arable crops. In the tiny hamlet of Rowford, The Cottage @ Green End is a self contained cottage adjoining our house, set in tranquil, extensive garden adjacent to open farmland at the foot of the Quantock Hills. There is a farm shop 500m away, and free tennis courts within half a mile You can cycle a few miles into Taunton along the canal or the road, and we can store bikes in our secure garage, bikes are also available to borrow from us. There are many taxi firms available from the town. The Cottage @ Green End has free off-road parking for two cars Please note that our chickens are protected from predators by an electric fence. The cottage adjoins our family home and you may hear occasional floorboard creaks, family kitchen chat or the dogs telling us it’s breakfast time or that someone has arrived 🙂
