THE FISHERMAN'S HUT 1930s Hut with short farm hike
The Fishermans Hut at KEIRANGI - Off the grid huts, Camp Bay, was built during the depression in the early 1930's, clad in old pressed out Kerosene tins. Authentically restored for you to enjoy this incredible spot. Set right on the rocky coastline, feel off the grid and take in the sea air. Only 45mins from Christchurch CBD. Relax, explore the rocky shores, fish and visit the beautiful beaches close by. Hike the Old Pack Track to Little Port Cooper and enjoy the serenity. Authentically restored hut with comforts. A large Master Queen bedroom with calming views of the end of the harbour and a warm rustic feel. A bunk room perfect for the kids or extra guests. All bedding, linen, towels are provided. Gas heating, solar lighting and gas cooker with all cooking gear provided. Kitchenette with sink and cold running water. Compostable out-toilet and outside cold rinse shower which generally runs warm in the Summer months. We supply cooking oil, tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper, tea towels cloths, first aid kit etc. Bring your food, a chilly bin to keep your milk cold and bottled drinking water. The Hut has, No Electricity No Hot water No Refrigerator No Neighbours No Car Access No Pets STRICTLY NO FIRES When you get to the bottom of the hill at Camp Bay, you will see a big stone letterbox that has a white arrow sign above it saying “Keirangi - off the grid huts”. Turn left down toward the beach through the gate. Just opposite the public toilets is our driveway, there is another sign that says “Keirangi- off the grid huts” turn in here and there is a sign on your left under the trees that says “Hut parking” park you car on the grass by this sign. From here, if you walk down the drive passed the wool shed, right down past the chicken coop to the homestead. We will be home to give you the keys and direct you on your short 1km farm walk to the hut. PLEASE WEAR APPROPRIATE FOOTWEAR, as it can get slippery when we get rain. If you end up with more gear then you can carry, we can have your gear transported over to the hut for a small fee. No dogs sorry, due to stock on the farm. Meet us at the Keirangi Homestead to collect your key and say hello. Then we will direct you on your short 1km hike and leave you be. If needed we can transport your gear to the hut for a small fee. We will always be available if you need us. We advise to not drink the water from the tape so please boil the water first, then it is A-OK. It is a good idea to bring a few bottles of drinking water until you get the chance to boil and cool some water for drinking. No dogs sorry, due to stock on the farm We can ferry your gear to the hut for a small fee. Bring a chilly bin to keep your perishables cold. Cleaning - Please leave the hut tidy. All surfaces wiped down, clean cooker, sweep the floors, strip beds that were used and place bedding neatly at ends of beds. Lock when you leave.
