PLEASE READ: Enjoy a weekend away in the Catskills in our guest cabin set on 35 beautiful acres! We have chickens running around, fresh fruits and veggies to harvest, and mountainous land to hike. We also have a pond for swimming and lounging in the summer. THE CABIN DOES NOT HAVE INDOOR PLUMBING OR RUNNING WATER AND SO DOES NOT HAVE A SHOWER. We have a composting toilet in the cabin with a wash basin for cleaning, as well as a solar outdoor shower bag available for guests use in the summer. The cabin is set on the side of a quiet road, and the main house where we live is about 50 feet away. Inside the cabin there are two rooms: one acting as a common area with a kitchen table and cabinet with amenities (dishes, hot water kettle, microwave, toaster oven, French press, coffee, and tea) a sofa (with a pull out bed), DVD player, stereo, mini-fridge, two large water containers filled with fresh, filtered water from our spring, a wash basin, washcloths, and private compost toilet. The other space is a bedroom with a full bed, up a few steps from the common area, but it does not have a door to separate the two spaces. There is reliable Wifi as well. We will need to empty and clean the compost toilet each day while guests are out. We will also wash all used dishes, refill the water containers, and provide clean washcloths. WE WILL DO THIS WHEN GUESTS ARE OUT OF THE CABIN SO AS TO AVOID UNNECESSARY CONTACT. Guests are welcome to roam around our entire property. We have a grill you can use (please byo charcoal), a picnic table for outdoor eating, and a hammock for lounging. You are encouraged to swim in our pond (there is a floating dock and swimming tubes!) and you can explore the 30 acres of woods in our backyard. There is no cable TV and no pots or pans for the grill. There are basic cooking supplies such as olive oil, salt and pepper. And again, organic coffee and tea are supplied, along with sugar. We are home often on the weekends, trying to get done the many projects on our to-do list, but occasionally we get out! Ideally we like to meet our guests when they arrive, but if for some reason we cannot we have detailed self-check in instructions in the cabin and will meet you at a later time. We have two young children so we do not stay up that late :) We can be as accessible (or inaccessible) as you want us to be throughout your stay. Downtown Delhi is a small village about a 7 minute drive from our house. This is where SUNY Delhi is located, in addition to a couple of great cafes, a food coop and grocery store, an art cooperative, and a few stores carrying antique and local wares. Andes and Bovina are only 20 minutes away, and they offer more delicious restaurants, a beautiful cidery, and easy hiking trails. In the other direction is Walton which has a bunch of great antique shops. There is a binder in the cabin detailing all the many places to visit and enjoy in Delaware County! We have 2 cats and 1 dog - occasionally they go outside. Our dog is very friendly but is not fully obedient (our fault!) and she might run over to you to say hello.
