Smitty & B’s - Quiet country stay on 3 acres

Welcome to a quiet paradise on the Yarra Valley doorstep. We are offering a self contained bungalow on our property for those who would like to experience a little bit of country not far from Melbourne. Our chickens provide farm fresh eggs and visitors can forage through our veggie patch to find delicious home grown produce to add to your meal. This of course depends on the season and what we have available. We also have many varieties of fresh herbs to add that finishing touch! Our B’n’B bungalow is a one bedroom fully self contained space totally separate from the house. Access is via self check in with your own private driveway right to the front door. Your private space includes a separate bedroom, lounge room with wood heater and split system heating and cooling, full kitchen and bathroom with double shower. We also have a sofa bed and portacot if you require additional bedding for children or infants (and a high chair as well). Enjoy a BBQ on your own private deck with sweeping views across the valley or looking out over our rear gardens. Our 3 acres is home to Lilly our poodle X, Thomas our cat, chickens and our friendly goats. During spring the grass in our paddock takes off so we also have Sunny, a palomino and a donkey named Fernando helping to keep the grass down! We have a selection of home made jams, relishes and chutneys available to purchase and when berries are in season, you can pick your own fresh berries and take them home for a small price. We are happy to chat and show you around our place if you’d like however equally happy to leave you to enjoy the peace and quiet that our property offers. Kinglake is a well equiped country town with a local Foodworks supermarket, chemist, Bendigo bank (including ATM), Post office, petrol station and local police station all in the Main Street. We also have a number of eateries that include the Kinglake Pub, Songbird Cafe and Larder, Cappa Rossi’s Pizza and Pasta and the Kinglake Fish’n’Chippery. Just down the road in Kinglake West is Flying Tarts Bakery and Cafe. We are only a 20 minute drive to a number of lovely boutique wineries, including our local Philip Lobley Wines, and some of the larger more well known wineries like De Bortoli and Balgownie Estate. Just outside Yarra Glen you will also find the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie. There are many walks close by and in the wider Kinglake area. Kinglake National Park is home to Masons Falls and Jehoshaphat Gully and you will find Wombelano Falls in the Kinglake Forest, all just a short drive from our home. A little further afield is the Wirrawilla boardwalk in Toolangi. Kinglake hosts 2 markets each month. Bollygum market on the 2nd Sunday and the Kinglake market on the 4th Sunday of each month. Further afield you will find the Yarra Glen craft market and the Healesville market running on the 1st Sunday of the month. Just down the hill, St Andrews host their market every Saturday morning. You will need a car as there is limited public transport available in the Kinglake area
