Douro Quinta Porto De Rei Farm

Delightful exclusive designed farmhouse close to the river edge set in 2 hectares of olive and fruit trees. The area is a World Heritage site and is dominated by Port Wine's vineyards and terraces. The pool has panoramic views of the Douro Valley. This bespoke and unique farmhouse is designed by a well known architect and verandas appear to be suspended over the water. All the interiors are lavishly decorated throughout with beautiful upholstery and the bathrooms and kitchen are in marble and natural local materials. Each bedroom has panoramic views of the river and terraces. The largest veranda is decorated in rich fabrics and gives a romantic feeling. The pool is connected to the house by a wooden deck and enjoys a breathtaking view of the Douro Valley. Guests have access to all the house and exterior land except the boiler room and the shed. Please note that you can reach the property in two different ways, the main one is through a narrow rural road, (we Higley recommend a 4-wheel drive) and the other way is to park the car in the village and then by going up three flights of stairs and walking around 50 meters. Some of our guests/friends use the rural road, but some prefer to park near the station, in the village, and use the foot path. Upon your arrival there will be someone to greet, help you and explain the details. We also have a bag transfer included in the price, no extra charge. A supportive host is available upon arrival and departure and also to deliver breakfast on the first morning of your arrival. In order to get you going we'll be serving breakfast in the first morning of your stay (included in the price) the breakfast is self catering, ingredients will be placed in the kitchen. The hostess will access the house from the sliding door located on the ground flour (living room) around 7:00am / 9:30am. Guests should, before arriving, inform the hostess what time they prefer and if they choose not to have this first breakfast delivered (from the 12 of September the breakfast will be delivered at 7:00 or 9:30am). Should the guests want to have breakfast delivered every day of their stay - this will incur an additional fee, please contact the host in case you're interested in this additional service. The hostess can offer recommendations if needed. Please note that due to the fact that the property is a farmhouse with a swimming pool, it is necessary to provide maintenance services, such as: lawn mowing of the different terraces and cleaning of the pool. This services may be provided during the stay of a guest and will be done in the morning, to avoid disturbing the guests. Additional services are available upon request such as daily cleaning, cooking and shopping. The house is set in a World Heritage site of vineyards, olive trees and terraces where the world renowned Port Wine is created. The Douro valley is wonderful for boat rides and kayaking on the river as well as hiking. There are many local foods and restaurants to be experienced as well as wine tasting tours. The Douro Museum in the city of Peso da Régua which is very near, with Porto only an hour away by train (station literally at the end of the drive) or by car. The city is known for its scenic views, wine and gastronomic experiences. We recommend car hire from the airport as the area is rural and rustic and public transport is limited, however there's a train station at the end of the property with direct connections to Porto and Peso da Regua (amongst other destinations). We offer a new bag transfer service. Not all guests rent a 4x4 vehicle so that they can easily negotiate the rural road to the farmhouse, therefore for those guests that will prefer to park their car in the village (and go up the three flights of stairs and walk around 50 meters) we will be offering a new bag transfer service using our own 4x4 vehicle, this service will transfer the bags to the farmhouse at check-in and transfer them back to the village park at check-out. This service is included in the price. Additional services are available upon request such as daily cleaning, cooking and shopping. We provide a starter pack for most of the house consumables such as rubbish bags, coffee, dishwasher tablets, dishwasher liquid, crystal and table salt, spices, etc. The toilet paper is free of charge. Rubbish is to be deposited outside of the property in the city hall rubbish bins, so please do not leave rubbish on the property and land and don't forget to recycle. A tourist information brochure will be left for the guests with contact details of places of interest in the area, as well as the house manual.
