The Roundhouse: Luxury Historic Crantock for 8/9
Stunning 4 bed house for 8/9 guests, with parking in the heart of gorgeous Crantock Village, with fabulous National Trust Crantock beach and River Gannel just a 7 minute walk down Beach Road. The Roundhouse is a building of Local Historical Interest and parts of it are c.250 years old. Fabulously renovated to an excellent specification for use as a family home but owner has now opened it up for holiday rentals so that the beauty of this house and its location can be shared for others to enjoy! Be My Guest.... I am truly excited to be able to welcome you to the Roundhouse! Freshly renovated - and open to guests for the very first time - the Roundhouse was a labour of love, undertaken with family and friends (adults and little ones), in mind. Enviably positioned in Crantock Village, a 7 minute stroll from one of the prettiest beaches on the North Cornwall Coast, I am inviting you to make this beautiful home your own - for the duration of your Cornish escape. If you are anything like me it’s the little treats and luxuries which make me feel special when I’m on holiday - so I hope you will find that the locally sourced wine, tea and other treats that I leave out for you will go some way to making you feel like you are enjoying a luxury hotel experience, albeit with the flexibility of self-catering. There is also a pack of locally sourced St Kitts Herbery shower products for you to pamper yourself with. Now....back to the House. Built to last (c. 250 years ago), the Roundhouse is a unique building of Local Historical Interest, featuring the original circular beams and high ceilings after which it was named. The Roundhouse has been lovingly restored and refurbished to the highest specifications, boasting luxury designer decor, Tom Raffield design Lighting and year-round comfort. Stay toasty and warm in winter with underfloor heating and the cosy log-burner, or refresh yourself after the beach - with the outdoor (hot water) shower and extensive gardens and patio dining area, during hot summer days. I am now pleased to be able to offer guests the use of the lovely “Roundhouse” hot tub. Free of charge if you are staying for more than 5 nights (or an additional charge if you want to use it and are staying between 3 and 4 nights.) Please note that the hot tub is drained, cleaned, refilled, reheated and chemically rebalanced after each set of visitors. This can take up to 24 hours to complete, so it may be the case that the hot tub is not available for use on the first day of your visit. Inside the Roundhouse, you will find yourself in a thoughtfully curated space with the optimum guest-experience (for up to 9) at the heart of its design: The Lounge Features the wonderful beam structure after which the property was named - and ample seating for all. This is where you can really relax into evenings at the Roundhouse in front of the log-burning stove, watching the flicker of firelight or something more high-tech on the 55 inch Ultra HD Smart TV/DVD player/WiFi. Escape to the adjoining den; cosy up on the window seat with a page-turner, or let the children discover our selection of games and puzzzles. The Mezzanine Up the spiral staircase you will come across a special space to while away an hour or more. The Mezzanine has its own writing desk for updating your diary, catching up on admin, reading or simply lounging amongst the Cream of Cornwall floor cushions. Bath and Shower Rooms (2) Wind down watching the stars through the perfectly-positioned skylights, as you luxuriate in the Lusso stone bath, or the generously sized rain shower. I provide you with hotel-grade towels and bath mats, to complete the pampering experience. As a extra little luxury I provide locally sourced St Kitts Herbery handsoap and shower products. Bedrooms (4) Drift off beneath the crisp bed linen, under original oak beams. Each of the four deluxe bedrooms is provided with wardrobe and drawer space, radiators and an extra duvet if required. The beautiful bedrooms are configured as a double, king and two singles. I can also provide a cot/playpen for any room. Sweet dreams! Note Please note that this is actually a 5 bedroom property but one bedroom remains locked as this is private to the owner and will not be in use when guests are at the property. Exploring If you can tear yourself away from The Roundhouse, it’s time to make some memories! Whether you’re a culture vulture, fitness fiend, an adventure lover or a combination of all three, The Roundhouse is ideally situated. Crantock Village dates back to 460 AD (St. Carantocus Church features its original 5th Century artefacts). Nowadays, the stunning scenery and extensive range of cafes, pubs, restaurants and outdoor/water sports are worth a modern pilgrimage. As well as the appeal of a transport-free day for some dolphin-spotting (where a wander to the National Trust’s Crantock Beach and River Gannel takes under 10 minutes on foot), the local attractions of Newquay, Watergate and Perranporth are also close by. There is always something to do to suit you, come rain or shine... Go ahead and check out a new pursuit! Here’s a taster selection: My favourite Big Green Surf School (where children and adults alike can have fun learning to surf, body board or standup paddle boarding, Healey’s Cyder Farm, Holywell Bay Golf (with mini golf too!), Lappa Valley Steam Railway, Newquay Zoo, Blue Reef Aquarium, Callestic Farm Dairy (where you get to see ice cream being made and can then sample the produce!), Trerice Manor House, Football Golf in St Austell, Crantock Bay or Fistral Spa, the Jam Jar Kitchen, The Old Albion Pub... And how about sampling the fabulous fish delights of Risk Stein at Fistral beach, or head 40 mins out to Padstow and be in foodie heaven! Perhaps a trip to one of the several vineyards here in Cornwall (Polgoon is a favourite). Visit Rock, Mevagissey, St Ives (take the branch line train from Lelant), Fowey, Falmouth and the National Maritime Museum. Oh gosh and I haven’t even mentioned the delights of the Lizard and Kynance Cove, St Michael’s mount, Mousehole, Land’s End, Historic Truro, the famous Minack Theatre, mysterious Bodmin Moor and Daphne Du Maurier’s Jamaica Inn and the educational delights of the Eden Project. Oh the adventures here in Cornwall are endless! Don’t worry if you don’t get to try everything, all the more reason for me to welcome you back next time. Have a wonderful stay at The Roundhouse!
