Somerset dam village. Silverton homestead 400 acs
This lovingly restored Queenslander on a 400 ac working cattle property sits on a rise overlooking Mt Brisbane and is on the outskirts of the picturesque township of Somerset Dam Village. Only 1.5 hours from Brisbane It is centrally located between the townships of Kilcoy, Toogoolawah and Esk and the main attraction of the area is the Somerset Dam Spit 3 kms distant which abounds with day troopers and campers. This house is situated 1 km from the frontage of Esk Kilcoy road, beside the Silverton creek on the edge of the Somerset Village township and its' quiet ambience and superb furnishings make it a place to unwind after a drive around the area, or to enjoy a few days of water activities with the family or friends. Enjoy the claw foot bath on the verandah for a unique experience. Quiet cows graze in close proximity and walks on the property are a must. When the weather is favorable the creek trickles towards the Stanley River, making it an ideal location for a picnic. Air conditioning is available in the family room and flows into the kitchen. Fans are in all other rooms. We'd ask of our guests that they respect the homestead and its surrounds as it has been a labour of love and a travel back to the early 20th century with its furnishings and fit out. Guests can walk anywhere on this beautiful property but must be aware the gates closed must be closed again after entry gained. the cattle are quiet and we ask that they are respected as we wish them to remain easy to handle. The second property which may have the owner in residence is not for use by travellers. If owners are in residence and we can assist in anyway to make your stay more pleasant we are only too happy to help. Please come down and knock on back door. Although I will not be available to greet you at the property I am available anytime to reach by telephone or text. Our property fronts the Esk Kilcoy Rd which links Somerset village to the main thoroughfare to Esk and Toowoomba. Somerset village has one shop and a new adjoining small hotel is currently being built. Somerset Village is quite small and made up of many renovated fishing shacks and lately more modern abodes. The attraction of course is the Spit with its bar b ques and dam, making it a very popular spot for water sports and fishing. Opposite Silverton property is the camping ground which is a welcome spot for travellers and families spending weekends and holidays enjoying the dam highlights. You will be only able to access this homestead via private transport. We have a fold up bed or cot if necessary.
