Business engagements or weekend of relax? Why not both! Ideally located between Milan and Bologna, this XII century residence welcomes you in the height respect of the actual safety and health norms, following Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol, to revive the true rural life experience, with shops and restaurants just a stone’s throw away. In 1110, through the work of the piacentino Gandolfo and his wife Gisla, a hospitale consecrated to St. Peter was founded along the Via Francigena in Cadeo, to give shelter to pilgrims, soldiers and merchants. After various events that see the fort put on fire and damaged over the centuries, in 1700 the manor was incorporated in the rural house that will host you. The original structure still remains visible, with the entrance tower and its characteristic pointed arch windows, the joints of the drawbridge and, in the entrance hall, open slits to the sides of the tower. Make you fully enjoy the hospitality and the warmth of our land, this is our goal! You can share with us the whole living areas of the residence in addition to the courtyard, where the traditional breakfast - full of homemade products - is served. And to make the most of your stay, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Castle, by accessing freely to the gardens and the surrounding green areas. At your request, we will be at your disposal throughout your stay with information, tips and suggestions! The village of Cadeo, place-name equivalent to the House of God, has developed around the Castle (Ricetum Casadei) built in the twelth century for pilgrims traveling along the Via Francigena, which runs from Canterbury to Rome. The land around Cadeo, fertile and flat, is marked by perpendicular channels fruit of Roman centuration - the division of land into regular square parcels. Between poplars and locust trees, you can find oratories and chapels that, in the Middle Ages, were resting places for pilgrims. The Emilia-Romagna region was formed by the merging together of different yet complementary areas. Between the lapping waves of the Adriatic Sea and the snowy peaks of the Apennines lies a wonderful variety of history, traditions and landscapes, offering just as many destinations to visit. Cadeo is at the heart of the Emilia area, the land of the castles and citadels of the Parma and Piacenza Duchy, of world-renowned PDO and PGI products − especially Parmigiano Reggiano, Coppa Piacentina and Prosciutto di Parma − and the music of Giuseppe Verdi, who hails from Busseto. The city of Reggio Emilia was in fact the birthplace of Italy's tricolour flag.
