North facing, 3 bedroom Stone Cottage situated by National Park entrance. A two storey house. Stone walls downstairs and rendered walls above. Downstairs is the large main bedroom (queen bed), bathroom, kitchen, dining and loungeroom with wood heater. Doorways downstairs are the standard 820mm width. The outside entrance has only a minimal 50 mm step. Upstairs is accessible by a narrow spiral staircase you may find it challenging if your unsteady. There are two bedrooms (double beds) a shared ensuite (narrow entrance), and a sunroom (single bed). Also two small balconies. There are two fans for the upstairs bedrooms and a ceiling fan in the sunroom. All rooms have flyscreens on the windows. There’s a TV with digital box and a DVD player with USB connection. There’s a small collection of dvds. Sorry no wifi connection. Outside is a carport and a drive through double entrance. There’s plenty of private open space surrounded by trees. We have a flexible cancellation policy. Allowing a full refund if you cancel 24 hours prior to your stay. All spaces except a locked garage. I am using chlorine on all touchable surfaces between client bookings throughout the house. I’m also blocking a four day period between bookings We can converse via phone or text and in an emergency I could travel from Melbourne to assist. Parkland road has about 8 homes in it and 200 meters down the road is the Jehoshaphat Gully picnic ground and entrance to the National Park. There are a couple of Bushwalks from the picnic ground through the forest. There are fern trees and mountain ash in parts. Plenty of bird life. You may hear lyrebirds mimicking other birds. You’ll recognise this If you hear their repertoire of different calls all coming from the same place. There’s also wallabies, wombats and echidnas. - Shelley Harris walk is a little over an hour winding single file down through a gully passing by a creek and climbing back up to meet the wider Mount Jerusalem track. There you turn right heading toward the Kinglake-StAndrews road. Just before the Road you turn right into Pinchgut Lane that takes you back to Kinglake where you can walk on the Healesville rd footpath back to Parkland Rd. - Mount Everard 18.8 km 6 hr walk. Starts on the Shelley Harris track but deviates at the Mount Jerusalem track where you turn left instead of right. This circuit links a couple of old single lane vehicle roads that are now closed to traffic. Because of its length this is for experienced walkers and requires some research prior to starting. (Website hidden by Airbnb) would be worth looking at as would Mount Everard Circuit-Kinglake. trail (Website hidden by Airbnb) Take note of the safety advice in these sites. Other activities and services in the area: - Bollygum adventure playground and picnic area is great for kids and family. Also hosts an artisan market 4th Sunday of the month. Best to check online to verify dates. - St Andrews market every Saturday morning. Fresh produce, hot food, coffee, drinks, & clothing etc. - counter meals at the pub, Kinglake. - Flying Tarts Bakery, Kinglake West. - for Winery’s check online. There’s a list also in the house - Supermarket in the main street . - Pizza Shop/Cafe, Kinglake. - Petrol Station. Kinglake A car is essential. However many Road Cyclists use the climb to Kinglake to train. There are walking paths next to most major roads close to the towns. Kinglake is situated in a Bushfire prone area and has experienced some very serious bushfires in the past. As such in the summer especially the late summer it is necessary to keep a constant lookout for those dangerous conditions. Fire Ratings indicate those conditions. CFA website will illustrate those warnings “About Fire Ratings”. There are 6 degrees of rating ranging from a Low to the maximum CodeRed. Any of the highest 3 ratings ; Severe, Extreme and Code Red it will not be possible to stay over. It’s advised in these conditions it’s best to leave early as you and your families safety cannot be guaranteed. Emergency broadcasters radio774 and (Website hidden by Airbnb) offer advice on current conditions. But these can be behind actual events because they have to be confirmed to be broadcast. Hence it’s safest to leave early. I will be doing my best to notify you of this situation.
