The open plan kitchen and living area is complimented perfectly by an Edwardian open log fire place, polished floor boards and plush Persian rugs where you can simply stay in, cook and enjoy the peace of two. A four-poster King bed and an en-suite with a 2 person spa creates a cozy and romantic space. Just moments from the property is a walking track that leads you to Sassafras village where you can browse the unique boutiques or afternoon tea at one of the many cafes. A more invigorating walk will place you in the heart of Sherbrooke forest where you can lose yourself amongst the trees. Warm, beautifully decorated and surrounded by majestic pine trees and beautiful crocuses this little cottage is definitely a Keeper. There is also a very elegant homestead and Keepers cottage on the property which is perfect for extra family and friends to stay. Airconditioning for summer stays (and big shady trees to sit in the garden). You will have exclusive use of the Keepers Cottage. Please respect the privacy of other guests who may be staying on the same property - Gatehouse Cottage and The Homestead share gardens and driveway. During your stay our friendly team is available by Airbnb message, or you can phone 9am-5pm daily. The Estate has been established since the early 1900s. From here you can walk down a bush trail to Sassafras village, or a hike in the forest at the end of the road. Boutique shops, cafés and eateries, big, public cold-climate gardens are all here for you to enjoy when you come. The Olinda, Sassafras and Mt Dandenong villages are all a very short drive away and are filled with treasures. The Yarra Valley is around 30mins drive away. Soak - beautiful candles, soaps and toiletries Visit the many parks and gardens, like Cloudehill (paid entry), Dandenong Ranges Botanical Gardens, Alfred Nicholas Gardens, William Ricketts Sanctuary, George Tindale Memorial Gardens and the Dandenong Ranges National Park are all free entry. Wedding venues abound - Tatra, Lyrebird Falls, Marybrook Manor, Poets Lane and Nathania Springs are all a short drive away. You get the most out of a stay by having a car to get around, and it takes only a few minutes to half an hour to visit most locations in the Dandenong Ranges. Contact the office for details of a private tour/transfer company operating in the area. There are buses running between Montrose and Ferntree Gully or Monbulk. There are two more buildings on the same property - Gatehouse Cottage and The Homestead who share gardens and driveway. Cancellations due to COVID-19 Lockdown Restrictions only: If government lockdown restrictions directly affect your booking, as a goodwill gesture, we will in the first instance seek to postpone your stay to a future date, and if this is not possible, we will refund your booking total less $125 administration fees. PLEASE NOTE: The lighting of wood burning fires in properties will be prohibited from the beginning of the declared fire danger season (normally mid December) to the end of February. It is also prohibited on all days of Total Fire Ban at any time of the year. Please refer to the CFA website for further information. If there is no wood and kindling provided at your property, it will be because of this policy. The collecting and burning of twigs, leaves and branches from outside your property is strictly forbidden at anytime. Unfortunately this means longer times to clean, so luxurious early check-ins and late check-outs may not be possible Preventative measures are now in place in regards to thorough touchpoint and property sanitisation for every stay and contactless check-ins to keep our properties safe for your stay. With an abundance of fresh air and many outdoor activities in the Dandenong Ranges, it has never been a better time to holiday at home. Wi Fi is complimentary, however in 'the hills' the connection at times can be unstable and poor weather can affect it, and this is out of our control. Please note check in is not available on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's day.
