Explore the ancient town of Sarlat, or discover the castle Beynac, once captured by Richard the Lionheart. The rich and abundant culinary tradition of the region ensures a wealth of gastronomic treats, and a vast choice of markets,shops and restaurants. The Dordogne river meanders throughout undulating hills, forests and limestone cliffs with new discoveries around every corner. In the heart of the Dordogne Valley, we are perfectly located for exploring ancient chateaux, beautiful stone villages and the world-renowned historic sights of Perigord including Sarlat where the ancient narrow streets burst with local produce on market day. Discover the second most-visited site in France - Rocamadour - a medieval treasure that is literally hanging off the cliffs of the Alzou canyon. Enjoy the fun of canoeing down the river, which winds through breathtaking valleys. Visit the prehistoric caves of Lascaux, where extraordinary cave paintings (17,000 years old) tell the tales of prehistoric man. Outdoor activities from hot-air ballooning to golf, hiking and cycling are all very close to our holiday accommodation. The Dordogne is also a fantastic family friendly area, full of fun activities for kids. They can canoe or swim in the river, which is quite safe and shallow in the summer months. For kids in need of thrills, they can splash in a waterpark with slides, pools, trampolines & bouncy castles (15 kms from us). Or they can go tree climbing in La foret des Ecureuils where they can jump from tree to tree and dangle from a flying fox 40 feet above the ground! Step back into history at the castle of Beynac with its museum of ancient warfare - a great place to visit. Finally, after a long day’s activities, you can choose from a variety of restaurants as the rich culinary tradition of the Dordogne offers many gastronomic experiences ranging from Haute Cuisine to traditional French food. With the coronovirus pandemic, we are putting extra measures into place to ensure your safety and peace of mind: The cottages are thoroughly disinfected, including floors and surfaces. All kitchen equipment and crockery are put through the dishwasher, reaching high above the recommended 60 degrees for killing the virus. Bed linen, towels and kitchen towels are washed at 90 degrees. Pool area and outdoor furniture are disinfected before your arrival. Possibility of booking a 2 hour private use of the pool per day. We provide locally hand-made soap and recycled toilet paper upon arrival. This process might take extra time to get your accommodation ready. Please bear with us if we need an extra 30 mn to get your cottage spick and span. Ground floor Kitchen / dining room - spacious dining area, featuring an original stone fireplace. The large sunny kitchen is completely appointed for self-catering holidays, and includes a dishwasher and washing machine. Lounge - The large lounge, with wood burner and satellite television leads directly onto a private garden. Free Wifi is also available. First floor Bedroom 2 - The master bedroom of the French farmhouse is located on the first floor, with a king-size bed set under exposed roof beams. Bedroom 3 and 4 - Adjoining the master bedroom are two further twin bedrooms and a unique bathroom, with the bath set in the original pigeon tower (pigeonnier) - a distinctive architectural feature of our region.
