Gîtes les Chaffauds, heated pool near Puy du Fou

Gîtes les Chaffauds is an ideal base for visits to the Grand Parc du Puy du Fou here in the Vendée - the amazing theme park only 30 minutes drive away. A perfect place for family holidays, long weekends or meeting friends. 5 bedrooms, sleeping 10 guests, plus 2 babies - spread across two well-restored country cottages (adjoining 2 bedroom & 3 bedroom cottages). Heated pool (May - September) and surrounded by open countryside - a great place to relax or explore the local area. Gîtes les Chaffauds comprises two adjoining, but separate restored farm houses. Les Ammonites, with 3 bedrooms, has an open plan ground floor, fully equipped kitchen, and first floor shower room, plus ground floor WC. La Maison du Soleil has 2 bedrooms, 1 ground floor shower room, full kitchen and good sized lounge. Both houses open into a grassy courtyard with a barbecue and pergola for al fresco dining. This courtyard is fenced off from the main large garden where the pool is located. Guests have full use of both houses, plus the courtyard dining area, large garden and above ground swimming pool. We live in the adjoining farmhouse, so will be there to greet you and show you around, plus we can offer you lots of tips on where to visit and what restaurants to choose! We enjoy kite flying and often let our guests have a go with some of our giant kites! Gites les Chaffauds are set in a pretty hamlet with country lanes to explore on foot or with your bike. There are fishing lakes nearby, interesting wildlife and lots of tourist attractions. The main attraction for the area is the Puy du Fou Theme Park - Gite les Chaffauds are only a 30 minute drive - spectacular shows, with Gladiators, Vikings, Medieval Knights, Sailors and Musketeers. The evening ends with a Sound and Light show set around a lake and with fireworks for a finalé! A car is essential for visits to Gîtes Les Chaffauds. Public transport is limited and the nearest train station is in Chantonnay. Car hire is available here. The area has many signposted walking and cycling routes for you to enjoy. Please note that bed linens and towels are NOT provided for these properties - you will need to bring your own bed linens (for double and single beds), plus all towels - hand, bath and pool towels. Mattress and pillow protectors are provided for all beds. We (Paul & Isabelle) live in the attached barn conversion and have a very friendly dog, called Stanley, who enjoys meeting our guests.
