A night under the stars in a Cornish Gypsy Caravan

Rambling Rose is a traditional gypsy ‘Bow Top’ caravan where you can escape the stresses and strains of modern living with a relaxing and unusual holiday. If you've ever dreamt of a more simple life, living off the land, but with a dash of glamour tinged with the romance of life on the road, then Rambling Rose Caravan could be just the place for you! The gypsy caravan is situated in a secluded corner of Delancey House gardens. It’s also a quick walk downhill to the nearby town of Lostwithiel. ‘Rambling Rose’ Gypsy caravan was originally built in Penzance in the 1930s and has been lovingly restored to its former glory by a talented Cornish craftsman using traditional methods passed down through generations. This Romany caravan contains many beautiful authentic features - some of the original paintwork can still be seen on the original pot box at the back of the wagon. We have painted the wagon using traditional art techniques to show stunning scroll work and rambling roses. It has been a real joy to do and we are so pleased with the result! As well as the wood-burning stove, pull-out double bed, and beautifully painted woodwork, you'll also find a cooking hob and cosy soft furnishings. This all adds a little touch of luxury to help you feel even more comfortable on your stay. The caravan comes with its own private cottage garden and panoramic views over the surrounding rural area, and is sited in a secluded corner of Delancey House’s private family gardens. This unique and exclusive location only adds to the overall experience of ‘getting away from it all’. We provide all cooking utensils for the outdoor campfire (with cooking tripod) or indoor hob cooking. Towels are included for your use in our small but perfectly formed WC / shower room which is located separately from the gypsy caravan within a private courtyard behind Delancey House. Please note that the towels are not for beach use. There is also a fridge for your use in a separate utility room nearby. So if you're after a bit of romance, or just something a little bit different, why not sit on the painted caravan steps, listen to the sound of the birds and watch the natural world go by. Once the sun has set over the valley, you will see the incredible stars over delancey, completely unobstructed by light pollution, a truly incredible sight. Our Gypsy Caravan ‘Rambling Rose’ is situated in a secluded corner within the private grounds of Delancey House near the beautiful historic town of Lostwithiel in Cornwall. The beautiful gardens of Delancey are a site to behold with an abundance of colour on all sides and throughout all seasons. They are well established with old apple trees, hedges of lavender, rambling wild roses and the prize winning “Azalea Walk” which is truly a sight to behold in early May. There is a small and secluded cottage garden to the front of the caravan which is private to the caravan and perfect for that relaxing evening glass of wine or for eating al fresco, and you are sure to meet our friendly Robin who is always on the lookout for food! From your garden and the paddock in front of you (which also belongs to Delancey House) you will see stunning far reaching views over the Fowey River Valley, with the meandering Fowey River and the beautiful town of Lostwithiel spreading out before you. To the left hand side there is a panoramic view across beautiful rolling countryside with distant views of Bodmin Moor and in the foreground the Medieval Restormel Castle.
