San Vito di Cadore lies in the awe inspiring Valle del Boite, only 10 km from Cortina d’Ampezzo in a vast green valley surrounded by some of the most beautiful and highest peaks of the Dolomites: Antelao, Pelmo and Croda Marcora. San Vito di Cadore is situated at 1011 m above sea level and is a typical village of the Dolomites with a Ladino culture where history and legends are at one with tradition. Not only does it offer some of the finest winter and sommer outdoor acitivities of northern Italy, but it still maintains its cultural heritage without destroying the quietness and harmony of the surrounding natural landscape. San Vito´s convenient location makes it an ideal starting point for excursions, climbing, skiing and much more. You can visit among other things the nearby Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the Natural Park of the Dolomites of Ampezzo, the Reinhold Messner Mountain Museum on Monte Rite, the archaeological site of Mondeval de Sora and the Murales of Cibiana di Cadore. Most things can be reached by foot: the village center is a 5 minutes walk and the ski slopes are 200m from our house. To get to Cortina, there is a frequent bus service which allows for taking bikes (in summer) and skis (in winter). Of course, the most convenient way of getting around independently in this area is by car.
