Dar Fezna -Elegance in the Old Town

Our holiday home is in the heart of the town's ancient quarter with easy access to all of Chaouen's attractions. We offer a stylish home with comfort and amenities, excellent location and unrivalled views. We hope you enjoy staying as much as we do! Our holiday home is recently-renovated, well maintained, and characterised by its Arabic-Andalusian architecture. Decorated in harmony with the surroundings of the city, it truly showcases refined Moroccan craftsmanship. On the First floor we have a semi open-plan kitchen and living room, with a small seated area in the kitchen for socialising and sharing your memories and experiences from your day exploring Chaouen. The kitchen is well equipped including cooking utensils, pots and pans, serve-ware, tuppaware, blender, gas hob, fridge-freezer, kettle and cooking basics (spices and oil...). The living room has two parts with both independent and fitted (Moroccan style) sofas. You will find a bookshelf with a very small but growing selection of books and leaflets on the area (please feel free to add for other guests!), satellite LED-TV and whole house Wifi. On the second floor we have two bedrooms, a WC and a shower room with 2nd WC. The master bedroom has a double bed with clothes storage over and a rail with hangers. The twin bedroom has over-bed storage shelves. The terrace room at 3rd floor has Moroccan style sofas to 3 sides and allows you to enjoy the views in absolute comfort. Open up the doors and windows and let the outside come in! An outdoor store houses the washing machine. The upper and lower terraces offer views over the buzzing medina and the famous Rif Mountains. The upper terrace has a table with 4 chairs and both terraces benefit from lighting so you can enjoy the views at any time of day or night. The house is able to accommodate 6 guests, with the 5th and 6th guests sleeping on Moroccan sofas in either the terrace or living room. Additional linen for these spaces available on request. We also have a travel cot for babies. The ground floor is separately owned and partly houses a bazaar with friendly owners. You will have access to the entire house and terraces with complete privacy. The house is entered via a main door from a pedestrianised, residential street. The house occupies the 1st, 2nd and 3rd storeys up to the terraces. You will be met and escorted to the house on arrival (our street is not featured on (Hidden by Airbnb) maps, so this is necessary for the first time you come to the house to help you locate it). After a short induction, you will be handed the keys and left to relax! Any additional help and advice you may require is just a phone call away.... On arrival to the town, you'll be met by our house manager. He will walk you to our home. At Dar Fezna, you will be familiarised with the house and its features. A list of contacts is available at the house and we can email this to you before your trip. A welcome is available between 3pm and 11pm, and assistance is always on hand during your stay. You will only be able to enter the house after 3pm, but we may be flexible if there have been no other guests before you. Although we are in Rabat, we are always contactable to offer assistance and advice. We will support you before you start your stay. If you wish, we may be able to arrange additional services for your enjoyment, comfort or to immerse you in Rif culture. For example: mountain treks for varying abilities; walking tours around the town to help you orientate yourself; provision of home cooked meals brought to you door; organise cooking lessons with a well respected local restaurant owner.... Extras come with an extra charge, of course. Please contact us if you are interested. Services will only be extended if YOU request them, otherwise you will not be disturbed. When you are ready to leave, the keys will be collected from you. We ask that you leave before 11am, but you are welcome to leave your bags until 2pm during cleaning. We can be flexible about this time if there are no guests arriving on the same day. Please discuss with Hamid / ourselves on arrival. We are in the most historic part of town and close to everything Chaouen has to offer. Chaouen's best restaurants and attractions are all within walking distance. The surrounding streets and architecture are extremely picturesque and the people are equally warm. Due to its hillside situation, our part of the town is pedestrianised and very safe for children. There is a bus station in the town with routes to all major Moroccan cities. The popular inter-city taxis also serve Chaouen from all towns. We may be able to offer travel advice if required. This is primarily a house for 4 people, with 4 bed spaces. We have bedding to allow 2 additional sleeping spaces on the Moroccan-style sofas in either the living room or the terrace room. We regularly host friends in this way and they find the sofas comfortable. Because of the additional cleaning / linen / energy usage for groups of 5 or 6 people, we ask that these additional guests pay a small nightly supplement. Please let us know if they are required and we can arrange extra linen to be provided. We also have a travel cot, in very good condition, which our youngest used until the age of 3. Use of the cot is free of charge. We also have a small basin (which we used as a bath for our young children), and are happy to make this available to you. Please let us know if these are required. We have gained authorisation from the local authority to use this home for tourist rental purposes. Our home has met with all of their health and safety requirements. Many rental properties in Chaouen do not have this endorsement.
