Rose Cottage on England / Wales border. Shropshire
Rose Cottage is a stone built property built around 1830. The floors upstairs are all planked Elm and the downstairs areas are Flagstone flooring. The beamed ceilings and inglenook mean the property exudes character but with all the mod cons, including high speed internet. The cottage was recently upgraded with a Hand- painted kitchen with built in Dishwasher and fridge. Work surfaces are Kashmir white granite. The front garden is quite private & the bench is a perfect spot for a cup of tea. We have made a real effort to make our cottage special, the lounge is finished tastefully in coastal colours with seaside paintings and the master bedroom is decorated with an African wildlife theme and the twin second bedroom is decorated and finished in a British wildlife theme. The bathroom is downstairs through the utility area and has a full bathroom suite with shower over the bath. The utility area has a washing machine and a freezer. The stairs have a hand rail and at the top of the stairs is a safety rail between the bedrooms Please note that we can provide a travel cot, stair gates, and also a high chair for toddlers, however, for health and safety reasons we do not provide bedding for the cot. (please bring your own) Small and medium sized dogs are welcome, but please don't allow dogs upstairs. In front of Rose cottage there is a delightful cottage garden with a garden bench and the two access points into the cottage garden have gates to ensure pets and small children are safe.. To the rear of the property about 20 yards down the driveway, there is a raised patio which is also part of the cottage (and can be a lovely sun trap). It has a table and chairs to eat "al fresco" and there is a barbeque for use as well. We do not live local to the property but we have a house manager called Bev who lives only 2 doors along from the cottage and is always very polite and helpful. She is also a mine of information and takes pleasure in showing off all the wonderful things to see and do in the area. The village is half in England and half in Wales. The village is well served with pubs and has an excellent Indian restaurant. We never fail to visit "Bengal Spices" when we have a break in Rose cottage because it's simply one of the best we have ever found! If we are looking for fine dining though, we recommend you visit Shrewsbury which is 20 minutes by car. We do recommend a car for ease of travel but there are excellent bike trails all around the cottage and we are just 1 mile from Offa's Dyke which runs on the England /Wales border all the way to Hay on Wye. (if you are fit enough!) There is a lock box with the key inside, so you can arrive at any time that is convenient. The Key code is 1657, the Key code box is to the left of the front door. There is a single parking space at the end of the gravel drive.
