Beautifully renovated farmhouse
Elegant apartment in a classic renovated farmhouse, on 2 floors, beside a cluniac church from 1010, located in the Adda Park, close to excursions on Adda river bank, Brivio, Montevecchia, Lake of Como and Lecco, Bergamo, etc. We chased this house for years, dealing with bureaucrats and untrustworthy intermediaries. We were among the first ones to buy on paper and go through the renovation, but then life brought us far away from here. Despite that, we hope that you can feel our love for it, through the hardwood furniture built by artisanal firms, wooden ceilings and girders on the second floor, 4 balconies, fireplace and an amazing view on the mountains to the North. The apartment can easily host 6 people, thanks to a spacious queen size bed, 2 single beds and a cozy queen size sofa bed. If needed, we can also provide a cot for newborns or small children up to 2 years old. The apartment has all the comforts necessary to spend a pleasant and relaxing time. The first floor is based on an open space concept. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a dishwasher, 5 burners, an electrical convection oven and a microwave oven. Those of you who are more sophisticated can use our cooking books, exotic spices and a mini blender. The living room includes a big library of books (mostly in Italian), art books and books of photography. Our collection of CDs is available for you whenever you want to enjoy some music. We also have some board games, playing cards and chess. On the second floor you can find some games for the children as well. The only rule is just to put things back where you found them. Your physical hosts are Giorgio and Gaia, our nephew and niece. As much as we would like to meet you, it is very likely that we will be far away during your stay. Giorgio and Gaia will do whatever it takes to satisfy your needs and in case you come to Toronto please let us know and it will be a pleasure to meet you in person. Arlate is a little village in one of the most beautiful corners of eastern Brianza, between the river Adda and the hills that lead to Cassina Fra Martino and Calco, wedged between the picturesque villages of Brivio and Imbersago, with a breathtaking view on mountains Grigna ("grin"), Grignone ("big grin") and Resegone ("big saw"). Despite its minuscule size, the village has a mini-market, a couple of bars, 2 pizzeria (one of which has a restaurant specialized in Italian style T-bone steaks), a renowned SPA in a luxurious building, an excellent winery-restaurant, a park for the kids and most of all it provides access to the river Adda banks, along which you can stroll for tens of kilometers closed to motorized traffic. The walk from Arlate to Brivio along the river bank is a classic that we recommend you don't miss. The area is not particularly well served by public transit and that's understandable being a mix of suburbia and country-side. Milan is not far (about 40 km), but we recommend that you get to one of the railway stations that are close by, like Cernusco Lombardone, Paderno D'Adda or Olgiate Molgora. Public buses connect Arlate with those stations. Having said that, we recommend that you use a car to get to the railway, because it's much more convenient. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get to one of those stations and then 35 minutes to get to Milan. If you're worried about parking please don't: the house has its own parking lot and there are more spaces available just a few meters away.
