Double room under the eaves with private shower/WC

Traditional bed and breakfast with fantastic views across the countryside visible from this lovely warm and cosy, unusual first floor double bedroom under the eaves. With its own private shower room/WC accessible via your private landing, it spreads across the spacious attic. Fully equipped with blackout blinds, tea/coffee-making facilities, TV, WiFi, hairdryer; many extras on request. Included is a home cooked full English or continental breakfast, and no access to the kitchen. No smoking. Keeper's Cottage is a 250 year old gamekeepers cottage, once part of the Brougham Hall estate. We are surrounded by open fields and trees with distant views of the Lake District hills on one side, and the Pennine hills on the other. Ideally situated on a quiet country lane, we are only two miles from the market town of Penrith and the M6 motorway, one mile from the nearest pub which serves very good food and is a pleasant walk away, and five miles from Ullswater. Enjoy breakfast in our large sunny conservatory surrounded by period furniture and interesting antiques. Less than a mile away is historic Brougham Castle, an English Heritage site on the banks of the River Eamont which is well worth a visit. We are situated at the end of one of the most scenic and spectacular routes in England, recently voted one of the top five in the world. If you want to explore our beautiful country lanes and cycle paths we may have bikes available. Although some dogs are welcome, they must be well behaved and bring their own bed. If accepted, you will be charged £5 extra per dog. There is no guest access to the kitchen but we will provide a continental or cooked full English breakfast for you. Everything you need should be in the room, but if you require anything or further guidance, please ask. There's lots to do around here including visiting castles, lakes, hill walking, pony trekking, etc. There is no convenient public transport so a car or bike would be required. We are a traditional B&B. Dogs must be agreed upon and added as 'extra person' at £5 each.
