Gorgeous Normandy Farmhouse near the Sea, Barfleur

A perfect country house to work from home with super fast fibre-optic Wifi. This is also a wonderful place to stay when wine shopping in Cherbourg, which is a lovely 25 minute drive, with fast access to Irish Ferries. It is peaceful, warm and cosy with a magnificent log fire, a 5 minute bike ride from beaches & Barfleur, the prettiest little fishing port in France with excellent restaurants. You will feel instantly at home at La Grange because it is well equipped with all the comforts of your own home. There is original artwork on the walls, Persian rugs and huge comfortable sofas. The oil-fired central heating keeps it warm and cosy in winter, while the thick walls make it cool in summer. Our kitchen is extremely well equipped with new copper fondue sets for 12, a large raclette maker, a range of coffee making equipment and everything needed for celebratory dining. The 12 place dining table can be set with tablecloths, napkins, candlelabra , elegant cutlery and glassware, if you want to be really smart. The three sofas around the log burner, the logs come free) are ultra-comfortable, and the Marantz digital sound system, with external speakers for the terrace, is excellent. There is a separate room for the big Smart TV, receiving all UK TV and hundreds of other channels via satellite, plus Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube. There is a DVD player, (with 100s of DVDs from classics to recent releases to play), and an Xbox for younger guests.. There are literally hundreds of books throughout the house. There are tennis racquets, jigsaw puzzles, Loup Garou, Monopoly, Scrabble, a card table and a chess table too. We have fast fibreoptic WiFi at 480 speed, internet radio, and a landline ( with phones upstairs and downstairs )for making restaurant reservations, or just phoning home. Our guests enjoy the outdoor living on the terraces near the house, and at the top of the safe and secluded garden there is a summer house for balmy summer evenings ,with a BBQ and firepit.. and an all-weather table tennis table . There are 12 bikes, ( including 2 electric bikes )all free for you to use ; and parking for 4 cars . We live in the UK but are often in France at our nearby Chateau (also on this site) and we have a local property Manager who is on hand to help with questions during your stay. We have a very detailed information handbook we send out on confirmation of booking. Barfleur Harbour is just a 10 minute cycle away; a gorgeous bike ride for fresh bread and Pain au Chocolat every morning .. a favourite start to the day for our guests. You can also walk to the lighthouse in both winter and summer. We are surrounded by pretty beaches all detailed in the information folder, which are perfect for picnics, swimming and sunbathing. Perfect for country walks, beach parties and cycling holidays. A wonderful place for large family holidays .. children of all ages welcomed.
