Characterful double room with pool in Basque B&B

Beautiful traditional Basque Maison lovingly renovated to keep original features. South facing with a swimming pool and a magnificent view of the Pyrenees. We offer 3 double/twin guest rooms all with modern ensuite bathrooms renovated to a high standard. The Abbey of Saint Sever is only minutes walk as is the river Arros and the local Bistro. Ideally located for the Jazz festival at Marciac and the Tango festival in Tarbes. The words inscribed on our front door in the local language Occitanie say Aci. lou pla bengut seras which means “Here, you will be most welcome”. That is our mantra Everyone is indeed most welcome. Our Chambre d’Hotes was built in 1943, set in a hectare of established gardens with fruit trees and has been lovingly renovated and modernised to offer guests comfortable up to date accommodation with all the character that comes with a traditional Basque style country house. Situated on the edge of the beautiful peaceful village of Saint Sever de Rustan, surrounded by farmland we are 2 minutes from the River Arros and only a few minutes walk from the centre of the village, which is home to the beautiful national monument The Abbaye of Saint Sever de Rustan. Opposite the Abbaye is the Bistro de l’Arros serving delicious lunches throughout the week. With the Pyrenees and the Baronies on our doorstep there are plenty of hiking trails, and cyclists can enjoy the challenge of the mountains as well as some flatter areas. If you enjoy horse riding there are several well established equestrian centres nearby. Hop in the car to the nearby Madiran wine region where you can sample some of the best wines and the Gascon Fois Gras. We are ideally located for the Marciac jazz and the Tarbes Tango festivals in the summer. In Winter, we are only just over an hour to the nearest Pyrenean ski resorts, and there are several to try here! Our location offers the luxury of trying a different one each day. Your hosts, Kirsten and Anthony have experience of operating a B&B in the UK and running a successful ski chalet in Zermatt. We will be available for check in between 16.00 and 20.00 and for breakfast in the mornings. If necessary we should be contactable at any time throughout the day too.
