Thatched cottage in idyllic village
A tiny, quaint thatched building in the owner's front garden, offering complete privacy for two people with en-suite shower and toilet, TV microwave and free Wifi access. Located in the quintessentially English village of Elsworth just 8 miles from Cambridge. The thatched cottage is situated in our front garden but fenced off from the main garden and house. It is a small thatched building with two single beds and the photos show all of the space. If you have a large suitcase this will need to be left upright or squeezed under the bed. It is full of character complete with exposed beams and just perfect for a weekend get away. We are in a quiet street within the heart of the village and set back from the road. Access to the house is via a footbridge across a brook. Parking is quite limited as this is an old area of the village and it is the access route for a farm at the other end of the road. You should be able to park in the layby on the left and opposite the footbridge. This is just after the bend to the left in the road. If you have trouble when you arrive, just call (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) which is more reliable and we can help you. Please also note that there is no 22 Brook Street so we are between no 20 and the orange thatched cottage. Check-in is after 4pm and departure before 11am please. Do call our home on (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) or my mobile (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) if you have difficulty finding us. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided in the cottage. A sunstantial cold breakfast is served on a tray and delivered to the house in the morning after guests have filled in their choices on the breakfast request form the night before. The hosts will be present for most of your stay and can offer information on local attractions and activities. Elsworth is a lovely English village with an 11th century church, two pubs-one of them thatched-and a community run shop. The Poacher is just around the corner and if you would like to book for dinner then you can ring (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) The cottage itself, like our house, was reportedly built in the late 17th century and used to be a tailor's shop. The village is a fifteen minute drive from Madingley park and ride into Cambridge and only twenty minutes from train services to central London from either Cambridge stations - Central and North - and St Neots. Parking is on the road across the brook in a layby or a little further down the road on the right. There are only a couple of busses a day from the village into Cambridge and neighbouring towns. The timetables change quite frequently so look up Stagecoach and Whippet bus services for the latest times. You can very easily walk and cycle from our village into the countryside or to neighbouring villages. We have two dogs but they are not able to access the cottage because of the fence that separates the gardens.
