A perfect romantic hideaway. The Byre is a beautiful tiny stone cottage with private grounds and spa bathroom. Close to Bristol, Wells. Bath and Coombe Lodge, set on the side of the Mendip hills. The Byre has all the comforts essential for a relaxing and private break, like a great bed, spa bathroom, and garden. Price includes breakfast of cereal, Nespresso, toast, jam and fresh milk The price is for 1 person. Please add an extra guest if 2. Great food at the pub a few minutes walk away. The Byre is very popular with couples wanting a special place for a romantic, peaceful and private treat. Set in the picturesque Mendip Hills AONB, we're in a perfect location for the venues of Coombe Lodge and Yeo Valley, as well as for hill walking, fishing on Blagdon Lake, or exploring the local area; with the Somerset towns of Wells, Bath, Glastonbury, Cheddar and Bristol all a short drive away. When you arrive you can pull into your own parking space in front of the white garage doors, follow a path around the back of Dingle Cottage, through a gate and into a secluded valley with a view up to the woods. The accommodation is made up of two stone cottages which are a few metres apart, The Byre and the Spa Bath Bathroom. (You may want to bring a bathrobe) Outside you will have exclusive use of the breakfast patio and the cliff garden running up the valley. The Byre is a converted stone outbuilding a little way up the Dingle (small valley) behind Dingle Cottage. It has an oak double oak bed, oak flooring with underfloor heating, a large flat screen internet-enabled TV, There are tea and coffee making facilities, Nespresso machine, microwave, toaster, fridge, iron, hair-dryer, Bluetooth speaker, dresser, water jug, wine glasses, coffee glasses, bottle opener, crockery, cutlery, bathrobes, table and chairs. If you think of anything we have forgotten we will gladly add it! In the garden, there is a bench, sun loungers, and table and chairs. You may well see deer, sparrowhawks, woodpeckers or a host of other wildlife. Please note our pricing structure is for one person, make sure you remember to add extra guests if there are two of you. The Spa Bathroom has a Whirlpool Double Spa Bath with air and water jets, lights and waterfall tap. There is also are shower cubicle, toilet and sink. The bathroom has a heated slate floor, heated towel rail and lit and heated mirror. (Please note the toilet is in this building which is a few metres outside from the bedroom building. ( Crocs provided but you may want to bring a bathrobe.) The Byre is private and screened from the main house. You have your own access gate which you can bolt. The breakfast patio is sheltered between the buildings and the cliff. Beyond the Byre the long cliff garden running up to the woods is for exclusive use of guests. Beyond the garden is a small private wooded valley that guests are welcome to use. The Byre at Dingle Cottage is peaceful, private and secluded, tucked against a limestone rock face in a private valley in the garden of Dingle Cottage. We live in Dingle Cottage and will be available if you have any questions or need any help, but we won't disturb you unless asked! A warm welcome awaits wedding guests, pilots, contractors, walkers, cyclists, romantics, writers, artists, and all travellers. The Byre is set in a beautiful small valley with cliffs, lawns and woodland. The privacy, spa bathroom, candles, rustic setting and lakeside walk with the close proximity of excellent food at the Seymour Arms make us a popular choice for romantic celebrations, birthdays and anniversaries. In the garden you may spot over 30 species of wild birds. You may also see deer, buzzards and at night badgers, hedgehogs foxes and owls are busy in the nearby woods. One of the great advantages of staying at the Byre is the abundance of great walking and cycling in the area. Walkers can head up to the wild open space Blackdown, beside Blagdon Lake, into the forest at Stockton, the mellow woodlands tucked into the valleys at Velvet Bottom, or the huge hillfort at Dolbury Warren. Mountain bikers can ride wide forestry tracks or hair-raising downhill single tracks in the woodland near Rowberrow or tourers can ride the car-free Strawberry Line from Yatton to Wells or the maze of lanes on the Somerset levels around Wedmore and Glastonbury. By car the gorge and caves at Cheddar are only a few miles away. The beautiful medaeval cathedral city of Wells and the caves at Wookey Hole are 20 minutes. At 30 minutes drive there is Bristol and the Roman and Georgian wonders of Bath. Fly to Bristol Airport. Taxi to Blagdon will cost £30-40 from Airport Taxis at the Airport. Trains run to Bristol Temple Meads (bus) and Yatton (no bus). Buses run from Bristol several times a day and cost £4 each way. Chew Cars run a local taxi service. We can store bikes. If you sit quietly in the garden around dusk you may well see bats, deers, foxes, or badgers. Owls nest nearby and we have seen buzzards, woodpeckers, sparrowhawks and over 25 other species of birds in the garden. If you have an electric or hybrid car such as a Nissan Leaf you are welcome to refuel for free with our Type 1, 7.2Kw rapid charger. We are only ten minutes drive from Bristol International Airport. Arrow Taxi fare from the airport is around £40.
