Kurrajong, the aboriginal name for "Shade Tree" which grows in abundance in the area which was settled in 1790. Wheeney Creek runs through the Kurrajong area to the Colo River. The district is also renowned for its orchids and a steam rail link in 1926 to help farmers take their produce to the Sydney region. The view from Chalet de Tranqullite is spectacular. On a clear day you can see the Sydney basin from Penrith to the city, including the fire works on New Years Eve. The most amazing full, New and blood moons are simply breath taking. The view from the many cafes are spectacular. Come visit Kurrajong with its country hospitality and of course the call of the Bellbirds and the smell of clean country air. There are many antique shops to browse through to pick up that little something for home. There are some stunning old churches and cafes to choose from before you make your way back to Chalet de Tranquillite. Buses operate from Richmond Railway Station to Kurrajong. They leave East Market Street and make the scenic trip up the mountain which usually takes about 20 minutes. Walk the short distance from Chalet de Tranquilllite to the village where the bus route is. To access a timetable to suit your travel reqirements look up NSW Transport scroll down the menu bar to PLAN and make your arrangements from there. Be sure to top up your opal card prior to your trip as most buses have the tap on system in place.. This can be done at most newsagents. All guests are required to check in using our unique QR code and are required to be double vaccinated in accordance with the NSW Health Orders .
