The Dower House is a beautifully situated family farm house, full of animals, children and quirky art. We offer a luxurious double room with ensuite bathroom and stunning views with your own entrance into & out of the house. Only 15 minutes from Blandford Forum, it's a fabulous base to explore the Jurassic coast, Milton Abbas, Dorchester, Sherborne and Salisbury. We are situated in a private valley, & guests can enjoy a sculpture garden and swimming pool as well as many stunning local walks. Our period house is a combination of old and new - the flag stone floors dominate the hall ways downstairs, with antique furniture scattered throughout and contemporary paintings on the walls. Whilst the house is spacious and elegant, its always cosy and snug inside, as we value warmth especially during the cold and wet winter days! Our main guest bedroom is very spacious and luxurious and with a four poster bed, ensuite bathroom with shower and wonderful views down the valley. We also offer a twin bedroom with its own bathroom across the corridor (which you can book on AirB&B separately). You have plenty of room to read, play games, watch television or work using our free WiFi. There is also tea making facilities in your bedroom. You are welcome to use our heated swimming pool in the summer, and relax on the sun loungers. We offer breakfast on the front lawn, if weather allows, or in our spacious dining room. You can have as much privacy as you would like, with your own private entrance into and out of the house. As a family we love the opportunity of meeting new people, having worked and lived abroad over the years but we also value giving you your own privacy hence why we offer you our sitting room and dining room for your dedicated use. You will be provided a key and have your own access into the house. You are welcome to use the dining room and sitting room during your stay and will be given breakfast in the dining room in the morning - or if weather permits - outside, looking across the fields! I am a sculptor and work in my studio at the house, so can be at home during your stay and can help you find your way around Dorset if required. We are in the heart of Thomas Hardy's Dorset, this area is known for its unique natural beauty. Its a walker's paradise with many walks over the Dorset downs, Bulbarrow Hill offering breathtaking views over the Blackmore Vale. The Isle of White can be seen on a clear day, and the historic attractions of Milton Abbas and the Georgian market town of Blandford Forum are on our door step. Many of Dorsets most well known village's and the Jurassic coast are within 25 mins drive. We are also very close to several public schools in the area such as Milton Abbey, Bryanston, Clayesmore and Canford School incase you are requiring to stay nearby for a concert or end of term events. We are next to a livery, and a farm, so the surrounding fields have horses, and Belted Galloway cattle, and sheep. We are never disturbed by the activity and infact love the sound of horses walking down the lane. The road to the house has a few pot holes so please drive slowly and give way to horses.
