A fabulously characterful two hundred year old half timbered house. Less than two minutes walk from the amazing medieval centre of the pearl of Limousin - Uzerche. On the second floor above our friendly little art gallery and studio/workshop we have lovingly renovated a self contained apartment. Like the whole house it is simple yet stylish, a combination of the old and new, original ancient oak beams and fireplaces, creaky dark stairs but all with fresh new decor mod cons and very comfortable Your apartment is completely private and is accessed from the front door through common stair well. This big old building once contained four self contained apartments. Your open plan accommodation is laid out for a couple and maybe one child but is very flexible, in addition to the double bed there is a double fouton/settee and single fold down guest bed and plenty of spare bedding. There is a child safety gate on the stair landing if you have a toddler or two. As mentioned we have a small art gallery whch is currently up and running and we are putting the final touches to our studio workshop where we intend to run various classes and workshops throughout the year - life drawing, drawing and painting, ceramic sculture. Please contact me if you would like further details of these. So, if you are just passing through, on holiday, or property hunting yourself, I will be around a lot of the time as I live and produce art (allegedly) in the same building and will be only too happy to help you in anyway I can. Uzerche is a very lively, strikingly beautiful ancient hilltop village and if you tire of the stunning views you can explore the narrow winding, cobbled streets and stairs, marvel at the archways and spires and then finally rest up with a cool beer or white wine in one of the cafes or restaurants. There is also a small cinema, theatre, swimming pool, great walks along the river with its world famous kayak course, local swimming lakes, yes you to can swim with the fishes. The A20 is the main north to south route in France and Uzerche is easy to find and only five minutes from the motorway, exit 44 if coming from the north, exit 45 if coming from the south. France has a great railway service and from the station in Uzerche you can literally go anywhere. Locally to the north is the wonderful city of Limoges the region's capital and to the south is Brive with it's bustling markets and student life. And for the more adventurous there are four trains a day going to Paris. The bus sevice is Ok, with ample stops in the village and a fair variety of local destinations. The Uzerche tourist office has plenty of literature on local walks and of course things to do and see. For anyone booking up to a week and longer we can offer to pick you up and return you to either Limoges of Brive airport for ten euros each way. Ryanair fly multiple flights to these two airports from London Stansted. For other flights and travel routes please contact us and I will try to assist you in anyway I can.
