Labarthe is the ideal location for your Dordogne vacation, set between the bastide towns of Eymet and Issigeac in the beautiful Southern Dordogne region. You will have a private sun terrace, use of a enclosed swimming pool 12/6m and WIFI. Labarthe Cottage is the former farmhouse, a detached cottage that has been renovated and tastefully decorated throughout. It features stone walls with solid oak beams, and retains all its old charm and character. Up the stairs, there is a large open plan style bedroom area, which is divided into 2 separate and distinct sleeping areas by a small landing and a bathroom which is fitted with a large shower, wash basin and W.C. Passing under a low beam to the right is a double bed and similarly to the left side there is a large sleeping area equipped with 4 single beds. In total, the cottage will sleep up to 8+1/2 babies, baby cots, highchairs, stair gates and a stroller available. Tea, Coffee, Milk, Sugar. If you are going to be a late arrival and need additional supplies, just let us know and we will shop for you and have your provisions waiting for you on arrival. The supermarket in Eymet closes at 1pm on Sundays, open till 8pm Monday - Saturday. Basics and Essentials Kit: Tea Towels, Washing Up Liquid, Dish Cloth and Scourer, Hand Soap, Dustbin Bags, Matches, Salt & Pepper. Linen and Toweling: Bed Linen, Bath and Pool Towels all included. Communications: WiFi Internet Access is available. Both French and English TV available. Young Children & Babies: We will provide cot, high chair, stair gate subject to pre-booking. In the colder months where the wood burner is needed, wood can be purchased from the host (Jenette) for a daily rate or obtained from the local supermarket or Brico store. (Only seasoned wood for 3 years to be used) I am here on site if you ever need anything and can offer recommendations, but i also respect your privacy. The local tourism office can be located in Eymet square, and they speak a hole range of languages. There are supermarkets, shops, bakeries, banks and restaurants only a short drive away in the towns of Eymet, Issigeac, Castillonnes and Lauzun. There are many things to do in the area no matter what age you are. Bastide villages and chateau, religious monuments and museums. There are parks and gardens, picturesque villages and caves all around. The most popular days are often spent on the dordogne river, walking or cycling in the lcoal nature, or visiting the vineyards. With such wonderful local produce there are never enough days to try all the local restaurants. The following is a list of just some of the things that there are to do around the gite, Traditional markets, sample locally grown produce every day of the week Bastide villages to explore eg. Lauzun, Eymet, Miramont de Guyenne, Castillonnes, Villereal Chateaux (castles) eg. Lauzun, Duras, Biron, Bonaguil, Monbazillac, Bridoire, Milandes, Beynac Wine-tasting : Many local vineyards to explore offering free tastings. Monbazillac, Bergerac and Duras are just a few of the havens for the wine lover. Canoeing, kayaking and boat trips on the Dordogne and Lot rivers are readily available and clearly signposted along the rivers in the region Canoeing Horseriding / pony rides from one hour to full day hacking available all year round 9 and 18 hole golf courses available, although it is advisable to book one day ahead Fishing (a license is required but can be easily obtained for 1 or 15 days) Swimming - As well as your own private swimming pool, there is a nearby swimming lake with facilities for safe bathing on the fine white sand and pedalos & canoes. The lake is open from mid-June until the end of August Cycling - the area is renowned for its extensive cycling routes through beautiful scenery. With routes for all ages and abilities Distances: Situated just a few minutes drive from the market towns of Eymet and Issigeac, centuries old towns and close to many famous cultural and historic attractions of the area, you are assured of both a comfortable and tranquil holiday and lots of interesting sites to visit and things to do. The Thursday market offers a wide selection of local produce and attracts locals and visitors from the area. The region is most famous for its foie gras, duck, cèpes (local mushrooms), walnuts, truffles and prunes. All this wonderful produce is accompanied by the local fruit and vegetables and of course washed down with a bottle of local wine Bergerac, Monbazillac, Duras, Pecharmant, St Emilion.... the list goes on. The traditional open market square is surrounded by a grid of ancient houses and monuments. The ruins of the castle are still there and you can enjoy an evening meal (Thursdays in peak season) in the grounds. Choose from a wide selection of local producers who will cook your favorite to order, in front of you. There is also a night market on Tuesday evenings in the summer where you can buy some gifts and sit at the tables in the square and enjoy moules frites, duck and foie gras or just soak up the atmosphere with a glass of wine. Full consideration for others!!!! Please bring all your dog bowls and bedding. 'Your dogs are not to be left in the cottage unattended' Dog mess to be cleared immediately and disposed of, thank you. Travel: There are frequent low cost direct flights into Bergerac (20 kms to the north) just 25 minutes drive away, from Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Exeter, Gatwick, Edinburgh, Leeds-Bradford, Liverpool, Southampton and London Stansted as well as flights from Rotterdam and Brussels. Bordeaux airport is less than a 2 hour drive away. Brive is also a viable alternative airport with City Jet flights from London City and Jet 2 from Manchester.
