This outstanding, semi-detached stone-built cottage is in the picturesque village of Baslow. It is luxuriously appointed throughout, creating a lovely, romantic retreat for couples looking to escape the hustle and bustle of life and discover the tranquil and stunning Derbyshire Dales countryside. This boutique style cottage boasts a king-size bedroom which has been tastefully decorated with sumptuous bedding and mood lighting. The contemporary bathroom, with black and white designer floor tiles, also features a lagoon freestanding bath for a relaxing soak after an active day out, or for a more invigorating pick me up, step into the large walk-in shower. Enter into the welcoming open plan living area with a designer kitchen providing everything that you will need for some delicious home cooking. The cosy sitting room with comfortable sofas and a log effect fire makes a lovely place to chill out in the evening. In winter lovely white company throws are provided to snuggle up. The large stone vaulted cellar utility room provides extra space for drying wet clothes and outdoor wear. Outside and to the front is a pretty country garden with a seating area, whilst to the rear is a charming stone flagged courtyard, which is a fabulous spot for some alfresco dining. Baslow is a busy little village situated in the delightful Derwent Valley. With its pretty thatched cottages, quaint shops and fine restaurants, this is a beautiful village in lovely surroundings. The parklands of the Chatsworth estate are approached from the village over a 17th century Packhorse Bridge. Beautiful walks can be enjoyed from the doorstep and Bakewell, the proclaimed capital of the Peak District, is close by with regular Farmers’ Markets for all to enjoy. With Alton Towers just a short drive away, this cottage makes the perfect holiday retreat at any time of the year. I live locally in the area so always on hand if required. The cottage is sited in the oldest original part of the village. It’s location is superb to access the Peak District by car, on foot or by bicycle. Stunning Chatsworth House is a mere 5 mins by car or a tranquil 15 min walk over the pack horse bridge in the village. Haddon Hall, another breathtaking stately home is only 12 mins by car. Most of my guests come by car, but a few have come on public transport and used the local buses to get around. Parking is available on school lane opposite the cottage. A reliable local taxi company is Al’s taxis based in Bakewell. The village has several restaurants - which is very unusual but great for you as great dining is on the doorstep literally! Charlie’s and Rowleys are 5 min walk from the cottage. Fischer’s is a fine dining Michelin restaurant. Devonshire arms pub provides the usual pub food. Cavendish hotel conservatory serves all day food, for which you do not book for. Always handy if you do not want to be governed by times. The Italian restaurant Ilupo in the village is also worth a visit. They also do takeaway pizzas.
