You are most welcome at our 2 Bedroom self catering Holiday Home, located in the spa town of Lisdoonvarna, County Clare. COVID19 NOTICE: We're accepting guests only as allowed by current Gov't restrictions. Taking extra care to disinfect. Kitchen has dishwasher. Cleaning supplies provided to guests. We're between the must see Cliffs of Moher, and the Burren, each within a 15 min drive; and an easy walk to Irish Traditional Music and excellent food in the evenings. It's a 10 min drive to Doolin, and a ferry to the Aran Islands. We're directly between Limerick and Galway for those traveling along the Wild Atlantic Way, making us an ideal rest stop. In September, walk to the Matchmaking Festival. Relax for a couple of days in a place you can call home. Fresh scones, tea & coffee will be waiting for enjoying after a long drive, or for your 1st breakfast. You'll find the place cosy and comfortable. If during your stay, you have any questions, ring the bell on our back door, near your front door. You have private access to the whole detached, self catering, 2 bedroom house, with dining, kitchen and bath. We live in the house in front of your house. If it's Irish Traditional Music and Rustic Scenery you want, you've come to the right place, Lisdoonvarna, County Clare. There's nightly Traditional Music and excellent food at the Roadside Tavern (0.6 km, 0.4 mi), (Mar to Oct). Our Holiday Home makes an excellent base for exploring the sights in Lisdoonvarna and Doolin (6 km, 4 mi), and the surrounding areas on The Wild Atlantic Way, and in The Burren. Sights include: Cliffs of Moher (12 km, 8 mi), Aran Islands, Spa Wells, Burren Smokehouse, Cork Screw Hill, Burren caves and graves. You can walk to Eireann bus station (Burke's garage), grocery stores many restaurants, playground, hiking trails, and drop off laundry. Baby sitting can be arranged for a nominal fee. Lisdoonvarna is famous for its spa wells, traditional music, and the long standing September Matchmaking Festival. An annual folk music festival was held from 1978 to 1983. Christy Moore chronicled the Lisdoonvarna folk music festivals in his song, Lisdoonvarna. A less expensive option is to rent from Banner Car Rentals, in Ennis. They will pick you up at airport and drop off. There's a taxi booth in Shannon airport for trips to Lisdoonvarna, fare is approx 90 Eur. We're an easy walk to/from the Burke's garage Eireann bus stop in town, which, with Bus Route 350, can take you to Galway, Doolin, Cliffs of Moher, Ennis, Shannon Airport, and Limerick. We have list of local taxi providers in our Help Book in cottage. Here's some disclosures. A self catering holiday home is a place where you bring your own food and cook yourself (or eat out). The centre bedroom has no exterior windows. The pump which provides high pressure shower can be noisy to those sleeping. There's no sitting room (living room) other than dining room with television, chromecast, radio/CD. There's no laundry machines (drop off laundry in town). The reason we don't suggest kids < 2 years old is only because we have no cot/crib, or high chair, otherwise we're fine with < 2 yr old kids. Please put used nappies/diapers outside in our bin, rather than inside in bin. The Roadside Tavern and Storehouse's season for nightly trad music and food is 17 March to end of Oct. This pub is easy walk from cottage. Out of season they offer fireplace, drinking, and chat. This is the pub you can walk to. Doolin's season, with its 4 pubs is last weeknd of Feb to end of Oct. Doolin is 4 km drive from cottage. Out of season the ferries don't run to Aran Islands. Hotel Doolin and O'Conners have nightly trad music and food. McGanns has nightly food and music on weekends. McDermotts is closed during week, and has food on weekends.. During the spring through fall seasons, you can expect the weather to be cool to warm. It will rain, but will also be bouts of sun. Bring a light rain jacket/hat, and suntan lotion. Temperatures could be from 10 to 24 C (50 to 75 F). When it's damp, it can feel colder than it is (like San Francisco). Winter is dark and a bit cooler. You might see some frost in morning, but snow would be rare.
