Surrounded by vineyards and sunflower fields. From the quiet village square and Bar, you pass a few old dwellings and will find our old stone house with gravel courtyard . There is a dining table outside and a solid elm table in the dining room. The kitchen is simple but well equipped with original 'buffet' The sitting room has comfortable chairs around a wood burning stove Through to the hall and shower room Climb up the stone and oak stairs to find a lovely bathroom and 2 double bedrooms The place still needs some work doing on it, in places. It is quite a rustic style, capturing the character of an old french country house 😊 You will be able to use ,The two double bed rooms that are to the right of the kitchen in the one building . To the left there are rooms that are not finished yet. The garage will also be closed off , as the floor above the parking area is not safe to walk on , and the roof above the garage needs re building . The recently acquired garden can be used and improved 😊 Tim and Paddy Doubleday are the owners of this property , thry live mostly in Bristol England . It is a holiday home. Many people have loved staying here 😊 The Sons of Tim and Paddy are responsible for the upkeep and management of the property . You will find us in the Loire Valley, 25 km south of Tours. Above all, Avon les Roches is tranquil and surrounded by acres of vineyards, gently rolling countryside, shady woods, perfect for walking and cycling, or canoeing along the meandering, gently flowing rivers. Or simply chilling out in our courtyard under the shade of the trees with an absorbing book and a chilled glass of Chinon rose bought from our local viticulteur. We are surrounded by several beautiful towns. Chinon, where Joan of Arc met the Dauphin to persuade him to allow her to head his army to vanquish the British. The chateau, towering above the Vienne, is amazingly interesting and steeped in history. The town below is vibrant and full of shops and restaurants. There is an excellent market there every Thursday. Azay le Rideau is in the other direction, and perfect for ambling round it's old cobbled streets. The chateau, known as The Jewel, is surrounded by it's moat, which never runs dry. The interior is as charming as the exterior. L'Ile Bouchard, where you will find Super U, is 4.5 k from Avon les Roches , and boasts an excellent fruit and vegetable shop, a garden shop, Pharmacy, and is situated either side of The Vienne. Villandry with its stunning chateau and beautiful gardens is a short drive away. As is Chateau Rivau, with banks of lavender to greet you as you make your way towards the entrance to meander, through the sensational gardens. Further afield you will discover Chambord, Chenenceau, Langeais, Le Clos Luce, where Leonardo da Vinci's sketches and models are still safely guarded in the basement. You will be spoilt for choice! There is a lovely swimming pool the other side of The Vienne in Chinon. A short drive further on is another pool at Avoine, with exciting slides and fun for both adults and children There is a direct train From Charles de Gaule to Saint-Pierre-des-Corps. From Saint-Pierre-des-Corps it is 46 km to drive 40-46 minutes drive . Or 40km to cycle 2 hours 15 and probably longer , as you will want to sight see on the way 😊 There is a bus stop in the village, but the buses do not run very often. Hire car from Tours or from the airport where you arrive . There is a good map in the house , with very nice short and long walks in the area 😊 We have started to improve the property, to make it more suitable for colder weather, but at the moment , some doors and windows will not keep the heat in so well . So you may need warmer cloths , if visiting at colder times . 😊
