A series of small squares intersect, with Piazza dei Signori in the center, commonly known as Piazza Dante because of the statue of the Supreme Poet found there. The author of the Divine Comedy was in Verona, during the exile, guest of the Della Scala Lords, whose tombs are located just beyond the square, in the so-called "Arche Scaligere". In the adjacent courtyard there are also the "Scavi Scaligeri", today the seat of the photography museum.
