Within 5 minutes drive, you will reach the port of Souda, where you can find a SuperMarket and a fish shop. The charming city of Chania, with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, is less than 15 minutes drive. Every Saturday, there is a market where you can pick up fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as the local yoghurts and cheese. The old town has a mix of shops ranging from a bootmaker to boutique clothing. Bars & Restaurants You'll be spoilt for choice on where to eat in the villages around the Villa. There are several tavernas that offer local food cooked with traditional Cretan recipes. If you prefer fish, there are some waterfront restaurants that overlook the sea within 15 minutes drive. Or why not put on your dancing shoes and head to one of the many nightclubs or cocktail and music bars of Chania city centre? Beaches The beach of Kyani Akti is around 10 minutes' drive from the Villa, with clear blue water and soft golden sand. There is also the Blue Flag beach of Kalyves with plenty of sunbeds and parasols to hire and a selection of beach bars and tavernas, all about 1km away. For a day at the beach, Elafonisi and Faalasarna are ideal destinations! There are white sand and pink hues and turquoise waters that ripple in the breeze. Both beaches are a bit far away, but it definitely worths driving there! Family fun For some fun in the sun, especially when the coastline close to the Villa is wavy, Limnoupolis Waterpark offers a great adventure for the whole family! About 20 minutes drive from the Villa, Limnoupolis with its waterslides for the energetic and the lazy river for the more laid-back members of the group can provide with moments of joy all the members of your company. Places of Interest Less than 5 minutes drive from the villa is one of the most interesting archaeological sites in western Crete, the city of Ancient Aptera that was inhabited since Minoan times. The site has several paths that lead to ancient places of interest like an ancient theatre and an extraordinary sewer system. You will have to pay for a symbolic price for your entrance. The city of Chania is not to be missed! The Venetian Harbour is fringed with restaurants, cafes and bars. This is a great place to rest after a day exploring the maze of alleys in the old town of Chania. Within 30 minutes' drive, you will also find the Botanical Gardens of Crete that worth a visit. In that garden, you will be amazed by the variety of products which you can walk into through handmade paths. If you decide to have lunch or dinner at the restaurant of the gardens, make sure you ask for their local salad with more than 100 ingredients!
