Historic Grainstore Apartments

Sited in one of Maldon's more prominent 140 year old heritage listed buildings, this accommodation would have to be one of the most unique stays in our historic town. It is quiet and peaceful, but just a short walk to the town centre. There are lovely garden spaces to relax in and also a barbeque area Built in 1864, this lovely old brick and corrugated iron building started life as "Brook's' General Store" and operated continually until 1986. The Grainstore has now been converted to comfortable self-contained apartments but still retains much of its original characteristics and atmosphere with great views overlooking the township and towards the Mount. The Main Apartment is a large and completely self-contained apartment which can accommodate up to 5 people. It has a separate bedroom with a double bed, while the open plan living area has a queen size bed and single bed. Enter from Edwards Street which is at ground level, no steps and easy access Enter from Edwards Street, accommodation sign on the double gates. Go through into the sunroom ,key safe is on wall under the Michelin Man sign. There is only single steps into accommodation. The town is nestled on the slopes of Mt. Tarrengower in an agricultural, pastoral and mining district. Mt Tarrengower, a prominent geological feature, is close to the geographical centre of Victoria. Maldon has retained an authentic pioneer-like appearance with history of the gold-mining era being preserved. Maldon was declared Australia’s First Notable Town in 1966 by the National Trust of Australia. The township and surrounding forests abound with remnants of the gold mining past, beautiful seasonal wildflowers and comfortable historic and scenic walking trails. The Main Apartment has a QB and Single bed in the open plan living area. lf the booking is for a couple then the QB is used. Sometimes two separate beds are required (2 people who are not a couple) then the single bed is available cost remains $150 per night even though there are more cleaning costs Extra person is $30, child $20
