Nestled in a little wooded corner of our garden on the edge of the village of Martinstown, the shepherd's hut is fully insulated and super cosy on rainy days. Nothing nicer than lighting the wood burner and listening to the rain on the roof. However, Spring is nearly here and hopefully warmer days! Looking forward to welcoming both new guests and regulars back for 2022. Everything you need for your break and a great central location between Weymouth and Dorchester. Check out our reviews! The Shepherd’s Hut is in a private space nestled in the far corner of our garden amongst mature trees. Everything you need for a break away including individually wrapped tea, coffee, sugar and a bottle of fresh organic milk from our local dairy farm is provided. Full sized double bed with memory foam mattress. Duvet, 4 pillows and spare blanket are provided . (10.5 tog duvet is provided as standard. If you would prefer a warmer or cooler one just let me know) 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, bath mat and tea towels are provided. If you prefer to bring your own linens and beddings just let us know in advance and we will get the hut ready for you without. The bathroom has a shower, wash hand basin and loo. Toilet roll provided. The kitchen area has a 2 ring gas hob and an electric microwave combi oven. There is also a small fridge with tiny freezer compartment (suitable for a few ice cubes or a tub of ice cream) Heating is by means of a wood burner (logs provided) or electric heating when you just don't want the effort! Toaster. DAB radio with Bluetooth Water is heated by a gas boiler- just turn on the hot tap. You have a comfortable south facing outside decking area which is lovely for your evening drinks and morning coffees. The field in front of you sometimes has a herd of milking cows grazing in it. Often you will see hares and sometimes deer. You also have a couple of traditional deckchairs if you want to sit on the lawn next to the small pot bellied barbeque. When you've finished cooking you can take off the grill and put a couple of logs on to keep warm. If you're quiet you might even see a hedgehog while you sit there. There have been quite a few this summer! When the weather is good you might like to hang up the hammock between the trees and have a little snooze! Please note there is no wifi in the hut. There is a good 4G signal from EE and vodaphone but the other carriers can sometimes be weak so if it is important to keep in touch with the real world please bear this in mind. The hut is all yours for the duration of your stay. Parking space for one car next to the hut. We are sure you will enjoy the peace and quiet of our little corner of the village but if you have any queries there is usually someone around to help out. Happy to answer any questions. At the moment we are arranging self check in with the key available from a lock box. Detailed information about this is sent to you a couple of days before your stay. This has been working very well over this season so we anticipate continuing this method of check in. Walk to the village via the footpath ( bring walking boots or wellies!) to The Brewers Arms where you will find a warm welcome and lovely meal. You can top up your milk from the milk machine or visit the village shop and post office for any general needs. Dorchester is a couple of miles away and has many eateries and lovely walks. Maiden castle is just up the track behind your hut, about a half hour walk. Weymouth is about 6 miles away with beautiful sandy beaches and the Isle of Portland just beyond. Great for walking and fabulous views. The nature of the hut is that it is small. Although headroom is good , it may not suit all. Space within the bathroom is limited and the bed is a standard double 4'6" wide and 6'2" length (with no space to hang your toes over the end!)
