The house is a stand alone Cabin in the heart of the Waitakere rain forest, 45 minutes from Auckland CBD. The cabin is close to Kare Kare beach and a short drive to Piha beach. It is a secluded setting in the Waitakere rain forest with views over the valley. The cabin is ideal for couples and families with older kids. The nature of the deck and internal staircase make it unsuitable for smaller kids. Pets are okay. There is a double bed, a single and a smaller single bed. There is a wood burning stove to cook on in addition to an electric hot plate, frying pan and microwave. There is a fireplace for cozy nights. Shower, separate bath and flush toilet. There is a turntable with records and a great DVD collection. It's a low fi getaway! Stand alone house with access all areas. I am available by cell phone at all times. I live in Auckland city. Although 45 minutes from the heart of Auckland, this is a tranquil spot in the heart of the Waitakere rain forest. Close to iconic West Coast beaches. It is an old character house built in the 70s. It is surrounded by bush. You may encounter insects during your stay. Expect some cobwebs high up in the pitched roof. It is for these reasons that the nightly rate is relatively inexpensive. If you want modern, pristine, hotel- like accommodation this is not for you! *Please note that all the walking tracks in the Waitakere ranges have been closed recently to prevent the spread of Kauri Die Back.* The cabin is at the top of a very steep driveway which does require some care and confidence.
