Fingals Folly— Reimagined Manor Farm Mill House in Dittisham
Delight greets the eye in every corner of this home designed by Hungarian artist-architect Andras Kaldor and owner Richard Johnston. From the hallway's built-in Buddha to the array of sailing boats on the upstairs beams, it oozes character, while an upstairs balcony overlooks the grass tennis court. Unwind in a boat seat on the deck over the babbling Barberry Brook — or lounge upstairs in the sitting room, listening to a vinyl played on your record player while the wood burner keeps you warm. Wherever you glance there is character — in the paintings, books, ornaments, art or furnishings. The downstairs bedroom has a large, comfy bed with both a bathroom and a separate shower room and a boat seat on the decking over the stream. Up a narrow staircase there is a stylish compact kitchen/dining area, and a balcony looking over the stream. Then into a cosy sitting-room with a wood-burning stove, a comfy sofa, and a sofa bed, a balcony overlooking the grass tennis court, a record player and a television. The Folly is very romantic and special with a beautiful little boat seat overlooking the gurgling stream ... how many people can say they have stayed in a very unique Folly? Guests will have shared access to the gardens, the indoor heated pool, sauna, gym, the croquet lawn, the games room and the grass tennis court (summer only). We also have bikes guests are welcome to borrow for exploring the wonderful lanes locally. Richard and Sheila will be around if a helping hand is required (not necessarily every day though!) Jump on the bikes to explore this locale, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or simply stay on the property to play tennis and croquet, and to swim. Ramble on Dartmoor, walk the Dart Valley Trail, and follow the South West Coast Path. There are so many lovely walks and ferries on the river that there are lots of ways of getting around our beautiful area. However, we recommend that you try to arrive by car as we have no buses or other public transport although there is a mainline station at Totnes.
