Spoil yourself and enjoy a luxe escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Our unique sandstone lodge, located in 30 acres of bushland is surrounded by a national park, rivers and wildlife. We provide comfortable, quality accomodation for friends, families and couples as well as larger gatherings using one or all three of our accomodation facilities. The main house can sleep 14, apartment 4 & studio up to 6 people. There is also a pool onsite, landscaped gardens and a billiard table. The main house and apartment was constructed by a local master stonemason over many years. Sandstone blocks, timbers and trusses, windows and other architectural elements have been salvaged from churches, obsolete tramways, old jails and other locations around Australia to create a truly awe inspiring experience from the moment you step into the house..... Each room has something beautiful to look at whether it be the architectural elements or the eclectic furniture, art and sculptures. The orientation of the house is positioned on a gently sloping mountain side with a view down to the river, gardens below and surrounding mountains around. There is also a large verandah around the whole of the main house to enjoy alfresco eating by the pool or just to take in the beautiful view. The main lodge has a completely decked out kitchen with every utensil you can imagine for the chef at heart! The apartment and studio offer a microwave/oven/grill, electric induction cooktop and of course all three properties offer an external bbq for your use. The property can be enjoyed over all seasons. Our gardens have won awards, the pool is perfect for lazy Summer days, the extremely grand fireplace in the main house is a perfect Winter getaway eating cheese and sipping red wine. You have the option of spending your time on the property exploring the local flora and fauna, going for bush walks, swimming and reading about the colourful local history or a canoe paddle in the river. A ten minute drive will get you to St. Albans Settlers Arms Inn built by convicts where you can enjoy a relaxing drink and a hearty meal. For the health enthusiast follow in the steps of Australia’s earliest settlers and explore convict trails or hike through the picture perfect bush land world heritage listed trail through Dharug National Park. This pocket of wilderness is home to the oldest surviving stone bridges in mainland Australia. Richmond Good Food Market is held every Saturday from 8am -1pm and although an hour drive could be fun to explore the local produce. Want to play a game of golf? A thirty minute drive will take you to Wisemans Ferry Golf Club. Or even a game of bowls? Wisemans Ferry Bowls located opposite the Golf Club. If you would like to hire kayaks to explore the Hawkesbury River there is a company on the Wisemans Ferry side called Able Hawkesbury River Houseboats. There is no public transport once you cross the ferry so a car is essential. Also a perfect opportunity to bring bicycles and take in the scenery and fresh air sans all the big city traffic. The closest supermarket is at Wisemans Ferry which is located just before you get to the Ferry crossing. There is the famous Settlers Arms Inn where you can enjoy a cold beer and great meal, about a 10mins drive from the house.
