Beautiful self-contained East Tower of a château

This turreted hideaway forms the East Tower of a 15th century château. It has its own entrance, via a private stone staircase and a pretty covered loggia, that offers breathtaking views over the château's truffle orchard. Internally, the Tower is full of character with a circular bedroom and roll top bath on the top floor with a sitting room/study below. There is no formal kitchen so this is a place for foodies wanting to experience local French food - we can help with some great recommendations You’re hidden away from the outside world yet only 6km from Chinon. The interior of the East Tower combines smart artwork and fabrics with clever vintage finds and joyful colours. We hope it is a haven for you to escape to and enjoy. We’re really into cleaning and even use UV light to make sure the space is sparkling! You have access to the 10-acre truffle orchard. If the nearby gîte has not been rented out, you are welcome to use the beautiful walled formal gardens, rose garden and heated swimming pool (only available during the summer). The accommodation is excellent but it’s the setting that makes this stay truly special. Someone will be on hand to welcome you, help with any queries and make your stay special. French and English spoken. Château de La Fuye is a 7 minute drive away from the cobbled and historic town of Chinon where there is a host of things to do, see, eat and drink. Please visit our CHINON - TO DO page for hints, tips and local know-how (webpage available, upon request, after booking). Huismes is the nearest hamlet to La Fuye and shouldn’t be overlooked. Tours is our nearest big city and has an excellent covered (food) market and a host of good shops. Wonderful local walks are possible, from right outside the drive, including one that takes in eight local châteaux. There is also the meandering La Loire À Vélo cycle path that runs very near the house (we can help organise bike hire). We can also help to find someone to drive you in to town if you would like to enjoy dinner (and wine) at one of the local restaurants in Chinon, without the worry of driving home afterwards. Although there is no kitchen, the East Tower is equipped with a small fridge with ice-making facilities, (primarily to chill any bottles of wine you may have; ice tray provided) kettle, microwave, Crock-Pot slow cooker and a Nespresso machine (pods provided). A rice cooker available, upon request. ______________ Please be aware that the property of La Fuye, as a whole, has the following: - a small pond/water feature (securely covered with netting) - a well (not a visible feature and very securely covered) - a swimming pool (not covered or fenced but fitted with a French regulatory pool alarm)n - a natural 'cave' / natural rocky opening within the garden (very traditional in this part of France). This has been partially covered over by a wire grill for safety reasons. Strictly no glasses or breakables to be used in the garden or by the swimming pool. Good quality plastic glasses and enamelware are provided for your safety. As detailed under the 'Guest Access' section, the pool and gardens will only be available to you if there is not another booking in the nearby gîte.
