Character mill cottage with large pool

This property comprises 2 internally connected mill cottages allowing for larger groups or parties. The property has stunning views of the river and surrounding woodland. The whole property is set over 2 stories, each gîte having 3 bedrooms The kitchens are fully equipped, including a dishwasher. Each gîte has a patio area and seating for al fresco dining. In order to benefit from exclusive use of the pool you could also rent out our third gîte - Corbieres. We have named the whole property La Belle Sauvage as it is the Beautiful Wild. The property is set in 2 acres of wonderful woodland in the Black Mountains, just 30 minutes from Carcassonne. La Belle Sauvage has a tranquil setting, a beautiful babbling river and a large outdoor swimming pool. The gîte is perfect for family & friend holidays. Please note that the property has wifi but no mobile phone reception. Guests have access to all the land at the front of the gite, including the swimming pool, woodland, river and large area perfect for outdoor games e.g. football. The area behind the gîte is private and for the owners use only. We live in a separate house on the land and will be available for any help or questions. We have lots of information about local restaurants & days out and are happy to share. We will leave you in peace during your stay but be assured that we are on hand for any advice, help or for a general chat. This is your holiday and we will fit in to suit. La Belle Sauvage is located just outside the lovely village of Fontiers-Cabardès in the Montagne Noire (Black Mountains). We are a 30 minute drive from Carcassonne and are surrounded by amazing vineyards, forests and stunning views. The Montagne Noire is home to many excellent restaurants, which we’re happy to recommend and some beautiful villages. Montolieu is a short drive from us and is a must see for any book or art lovers, it is nicknamed the ‘Village of Books’. Fontiers itself has a bustling bar (which often hosts live bands), a local shop (the best baguettes we’ve had) and a play park. Surrounding Fontiers, there is plenty to explore – hidden waterfall trails, excellent cycling routes, playparks, French markets and lakes. We are doing our best to sample all the local restaurants, family days out and markets and we are happy to share our experiences and recommendations with our guests. There are limited public transport routes and would strongly recommend a hire car. This enables you to experience all of the area. There are numerous walking and cycling routes, all offering spectacular views - lakes, the Pyrenees and lush forests. In partnership with our friend Martine, we are able to offer various courses and classes for our guests. Courses include salsa, qi-gong and traditional Occitane dancing. Martine is able to offer the classes at La Belle Sauvage in both French and English. If the weather is fine, we will facilitate the classes outside. Please contact me or Martine for more information.
